I went from knowing literally nothing about about Web development to being a Jr developer at my company by using these courses.

They might seem daft but they do work.

As I often say with udemy, choose very wisely what courses you spend your time on, especially free courses. The vast majority of courses on Udemy are not good quality. The course ratings system is often faked too as tutors will offer free courses in return for 5 star reviews.
These free courses are normally used as a way to artificially boost their student count before the offer it for sale.

If you would like to use Udemy (as they always have an £11 sale on) then I recommend you do a google search for recommended courses in your topic of choice rather than trust reviews on the site. Remember your time is an investment just as much as your money, and it shouldn't be wasted on low quality, or even worse, false teaching materials.

Not quite. You need to have some knowledge and capability before you can apply for the job.

A Jr developer role isn't like a position within a university where you go there just to learn.

As well as learning on the job you're expected to provide some value to the team. Actual development.

So knowing some javascript, c#, basic methods and best practices helps a lot and then your mentor helps with the gaps getting you to a point where most of the time you don't require help. I'm nearly there. Should be a full dev this year.

I went from literally knowing nothing about web development to knowing literally nothing about web development because I haven't started any of these course yet. I have added them thought to the other 100s of free courses I've collected, and one day I will start them. One day I will start them for sure!

I recommend the The Rise of Artificial Intelligence At Work in 2020 & Beyond, basically it teaches you how to be a janitor so when the impending rise of the robots occurs you have a chance at survival. Inferior Human programmers with their subpar logic and non-binary notation will be the first to be eradicated, but if you can buff up metal to a mirror sheen then maybe just maybe they'll keep you around as a subservient.

Thanks to this course i recently quit my mundane life as a senior software engineer, to take part in the thrill of Janitoring. My advice would be to do the same, stay safe my friend (edited)

Worth noting that most courses are only £10-15 with discount (which is nearly always the case if you search for a code). If you are thinking of going for a programming course in particular I think it's worth spending £10-15 to get a really good course rather than settle for a free one.

There are some really good Angular and React courses for example from Stephen Grider and Maximillian Schwarzmuller. Also there is a great Unity3d one which teaches you some C# along the way.

Here is the current code for £11.99 courses: - UDEAFFFS320 (edited)

Python. It's a much simpler language than other programming languages, very versatile and widely used.

I recommend the free book, "Automate the boring stuff with Python" which is a good book for beginners.

There's a course on udemy call Colt Steel's Web Dev bootcamp. It's a touch out of date but it covers a lot of the basics and fundamentals and focuses mainly on javascript which is still relevant.

So when you're done with that you can apply what you've learnt to other languages such as react. Also there's a great C# MVC course by Mosh Hamedani.
