i have this cooler. the fan mounting mechanism is a proper pain in the ass but otherwise it's great.

For am4 fit I had to bend those metal plates a bit to fit the screws. How can this go through QC...

Agree completely with the points made here. It really is a pain in the bum to clip the fans on, and screw to the MB when first installing, or again when changing paste.

Its performance, however, is top-notch. Coming from overpriced YouTube Noctua setups in the past, I would never go back (they're “silent” because they barely push air). Absolutely no issues with this on my AM4 Ryzen 5600 in an ITX case. Idles at around 36, and I haven't seen it go past 65 when under stress, during the hottest days we've had so far this year. Should also note that I only have the one fan mounted, as I put the second on the case as an exhaust. I also have a few other fans of the exact same model for the rest of the case.

I'm using Arctics newer MX-6 paste, which is basically a slightly thicker MX-4. (edited)

it's been totally comfortable to excellent in terms of performance on everything i've tested on (3300x, 3600, 3900x, 5800x, upgraded my machine a ton of times from secondhand sales and resale). i once installed one of the motherboard standoff/screws backwards but that was user error, once i figured out what was causing the poor performance it worked a treat and was comparable to other themal solutions i use.

the fan clips are the devil tho lol.

Would have too be really good to be worth 10 quid over the Peerless Assassin.

absolutely no chance it touches a dual tower cooler, unless they were made comically poorly. much more tower and more fins to push thorough rather than pull, which is much more efficient cooling. but not all cases can fit dual towers, some people have brand recognition/loyalty, particularly from the fans and paste, etc.

It's an 'OK' cooler, you can get better for the same money or as good for less (Thermalright coolers, best value out there).

Expired as price has gone up anyway. (edited)

I can't think anything other than Noctua

    Noctua are overrated.
They get beaten by far cheaper coolers.

Have this installed in a 10850k open chassis server, thought it would just be a temporary solution until I ordered an AIO but it works so well I've kept it on.

My Ryzen 5600 went from 80 degrees Celsius on AMD stock cooler (on full speed fans) to around 45-50 deg on this Freezer 34 Duo with barely any noise.

Unless you're tight on space in your case, could've done better with a Thermalright Peerless Assassin PA120 for £5 less.

Even the Thermalright Assassin King 120 performs better for only £16.49. (edited)
