**EDIT 03/05/23 - This printer has now dropped in price and with code is now £186.66 but showing as backorder to be posted in 8-9 days
I have contacted them to ask about honouring the new price for my order so will add a note based on their responce for anyone who has already ordered.
Short answer seems to be no, return it and re-order**

Having just done this myself deciding to get a Colour Laser Printer.

Printer is a Colour Laser Printer with Auto Double Sided printing & wireless printing
Comes with the 4 toner cartridges with up to 1000 pages (which is 5% coverage per page I found which is defined by the ISO standard)
Vikings sells the set of 4 toner cartridges (same as comes with printer) from £186 so the printer is only a extra £11 in this case but to my knowledge you can use 3rd party cartridges in the future once the includes ones are used up.

For this deal you need to make a new account as a business account, seems no checks as my business name on there is just my name.

They also let you link a Nectar card and give a bonus 1000 points on first purchase and also have double points until 30th of April giving 1397 points on purchase equating to £6.97 in Nectar points.

Topcashback also has Viking new customer rate of 12.75% which would be £24.73 in cashback (it logged as £194 spent on my TCB) though as using code in purchase don't take this as guaranteed.

Next best price I have found for this is £222.90 at cartridgepeople.com which has only 0.85% cashback on TCB for printers and no Nectar deal

This article sums up printer purchasing well theverge.com/236…ine

Buy whatever Brother laser printer fits your budget.
This is a great printer. If you don't need colour, buy the mono one.

I bought the absolute bottom range Brother mono laser printer for my Mum 5 years ago. She still likes to print out emails and the like. It's had 1 toner change. It's been 100% faultless where every other piece of technology she owns seems to requires weekly calls...

I bought this printer about 5 years ago when there was also about £100 cash back from brother. Paid around £80. Flawless machine, duplex as well. Only one toner change in 5 years, no more ink drying out. Would highly recommend even at this price, but it is a beast in terms of size.

agreed , got this one during the pandemic for kids home learning so paid a fair bit more then . it’s been solid . able to print from ipad / iphone also . you can get oem cartridges ( incl some high yield version. but it’s rather large . make sure you measure your space . wouldn’t recommend for photo prints

Does anyone have this one who would recommend it?

Yes. It's amazing and comes with full size toners too. Printed almost 500 pages and toner levels are still all at 90%

    Showing as £232.80 before discount?

Correct, 15% takes it down to price listed.
If in reference to the other price, that is the lowest I could find elsewhere to show the true saving

I bought the (almost-the-same) L8260CDW from Viking on a similar deal almost 4 years ago, it's been absolutely brilliant and (with normal home use) have only just started changing the toner cartridges. Like an earlier poster I got fed up replacing dried-up ink cartridges, wish I'd switched years ago. Only downside is needing a separate scanner.

I bought L8250CDN 9 years ago on top of my 20+ y.o. HL-2030 model (which is still working fine) only as needed colour.
    Both faultless!
Using 3rd party top-up toner and it works great.
My other Canon and HP ink ones ended up in the bin a few years after purchase.
    Highly recommend Brother laser printers.

We have this and it's a good printer. The only trouble is taking a lot to actually print when sending data via wifi (from smartphone or laptop for example)
    Popeye_the_Sailor's avatar

Do you mean it takes a long time to transfer the data and print?

Need a new printer and I'm not sure if I should go for the mono or this colour version.
Mainly need mono, however colour can be useful.
Is there a big difference in price for respective toner cartridges?

    Any advice would be appreciated.
    TIA

As the cartridges are separate, if you mainly use b&w then you'll only need to replace the black and the colours cartridges will just last you a longer time.

It seems official cartridges are about £30-£40 each for up to 1k pages ones but someone shared a link f9rb3rd party cartridges for £33 for all 4
  12. just-harry's avatar
    just-harry
If using for mainly mono printing, can the black toner cartridge be replaced singly, or do all
the cartridges need to be replaced?

    Thanks.

    Yes, each is seperate

Better to use discount code VGB-R15G4 as that can be used from the consumer site rather than the business site. You have more customer rights ordering as consumer rather than a business.

Isn't Brother HL-L3270CDW a better value at £213.18 after discount, any comments if anyone here has one?

    So having looked into this more, the differences are;

    - 3270 has a colour display, 3230 has a mono display
    - 3270 has a little more wireless print ability, it allows something called Brother's Cloud Apps which apparently allows direct printing from things like Dropbox and social media sites

Viking use a courier called Menzies. Please check their Trustpilot out before ordering - I wish I had. I ordered last week. Get a message to say it had been delivered. Guess what they managed to deliver the free water bottle. No printer. So some research into Viking and Menzies before ordering.

    Menzies Trustpilot : uk.trustpilot.com/rev…e=2

I forgot to add Viking said their ‘Tracing Team’ would contact me urgently and within 24 hours. That was 2 days ago. Still haven’t heard from them. Come to think of it I would say it is worrying that they actually have a ‘Tracing Team’… (edited)

Ordered on 3rd May and no news about the delivery at all. They are still selling it with a note on the product page about delivery in 7-8 days.

When asked about the order status, customer services gave a scripted "on backorder" reply and that someone from "the team" will get back regarding order. Liars as they don't keep any stock and just dropshipping items after taking your money!

First time ordered from Viking Direct, never again. (edited)

Missed out last time so gone for this deal as sick of losing tons of ink constantly cleaning print heads on my Epson ink jet.
Forgot to add the double nectar points promotion but tcb has tracked as 0.00 with a £194 spend

Ye TCB has done same for me but too early to see if that will change. Reason I put it as possible.

I also have this printer , as mentioned above very big printer. Overall very pleased with printer ,the only downside is wifi printing which very unreliable. If you use cable or wifi direct work flawless

Do a bit of research on the toner before replacing them. Mine said they were done but came across a YouTube video that told me to get and fit these reset gears to each cartridge. Did this and still using the same toner 18 months later.

Just asked on webchat, and got the response:

"Thank you, unfortunately as our prices on the website are subject to change I am unable to amend the prices"

I have not yet received my order, so could refuse delivery and re order at lower price (on a new account)

I'm currently in a much more involved conversation about this and I honestly don't know why currently they are still holding onto they cannot as I have noted that it would be less bother for us both and cost them less as it is £11~ credit vs processing a returning and a refund, getting another order and payment (likely cost for new payment), said payment is reduce price anyway, posting out the new order (another cost to them as free P+P).

Makes sense on both parties sides to honour the reduce price if someone contacts regarding

EDIT: They have asked for my email to pass it to a manager to look over

EDIT2: Manager just said the same, disregarded my own comments and then also ignored my reply email (edited)
