Is it not worth spending £1 more for the large one? amzn.eu/d/a…0iA

All else being equal the smallest size that does what you need is the best.

It's lighter, and having minimal free space around the lock makes some lock (or bike stand) breaking techniques much harder or impossible.

On some locks where both ends of the D are locked a smaller length D will be harder to bend to make a gap and more likely to need cutting twice to be removed.

WD40 isn't an oil based lubricate.

Please please don't buy these locks. The first one I had jammed after 4 months with very minimal use. BW did replace without any issues but the second jammed within 2 weeks. And yes, I was very careful with them and maintained them properly with lubricant etc. The mechanisms just aren't very good.

My advice would be to spend an extra £12 and get one of these - amazon.co.uk/Gua…7JK

I must admit I feel very sorry for anyone experiencing issues with this lock. As an aside though, I have also owned the lock you posted and although it did last four and a half years, it failed in the end. I think it may have been due to corrosion as sadly I was storing it in a bit of a moist environment for a while.

Would not buy this make due to durability issues - several reviews on Amazon saying it jams up after a few uses / months amazon.co.uk/pro…ews
An example: "In over half a century I have never seen such a poor quality lock. It is the first to ever fail in all that time. I have used it four times and it has never been outside of my house so never been wet or dirty yet it has jammed so I cannot remove it. Neither key works."

This HUKDer has had the same problem with 2 of their locks within weeks/months hotukdeals.com/com…336

Go for a Kryptonite instead (gold-rated or better, if it fits your budget).
Have had mine - this one amazon.co.uk/gp/…IB8 (paid only £23 at the time) - for almost 9 years without issue or any kind of maintenance. Shall be maintaining it from now on though! (edited)

I have this same lock. It's never jammed on me.

My main gripe about this lock is that there's only two keys, no way to get another as far as I'm aware.

I think this BURG-WACHTER one though is absolutely solid. I've owned lots of locks over the years and this thing is built like a tank.

Almost as good as an expensive ABUS lock I bought fifteen years ago. (edited)

Having had bicycles stolen I found the best lock is your hand. Holding onto it and never letting go ..
