Antibacterial handwash is absolutely pointless, as normal soap acts as a surfactant in reducing the surface tension between molecules, thereby aiding the removal of grime, oils, and bacteria.

The friction generated by rubbing the hands during hand-washing further promotes the dislodgement of bacteria and virii.

    Antibacterial soaps are therefore pointless.

I personally scientifically tested and proved this fact that has been known since the ancient Egyptians, by swabbing my soap-only washed hands in a variety of manner, ranging from sloppy/quick/3s hand-wash to a thorough 60s hand-wash, and growing the contents of each swab on separate agar (growth medium) petri dishes, allowing for any micro-organisms to culture over 7 days at 37°C (body temperature).

    Result:

The sloppy/quick/3s hand-wash resulted in considerable bacterial colonies, several of which were large.

The 40s+ hand-washes resulted in no bacterial growth at all.

    NB:
The front, back, and in between the fingers were swabbed to capture the gunge residing on my hands.
