What on earth is the point in adding highly allergenic substances to inhibit mould growth when the soap itself should be capable of that. Have you ever seen mould on a bar of soap?
The substances are Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI) and Methylisothiazolinone (MI).
They are used to increase shelf-life only.
I have gone through life with no allergies until recently. My wife would be constantly reading labels for ingredients: I put this down to her eczema. Then I found my scalp was itching badly, and I couldn't stop scratching. So I read labels and noticed that the very same substances my wife had been avoiding had found their way into my shampoo, conditioner and shaving accoutrements.
These substances began to be added to the aforementioned, and make-up, in the 1970s in Europe, and 1980s in USA. Originally the maximum recommended was 30ppm, but that was lowered to 15ppm after people complained of reactions. Recently it has crept to 100ppm in some products.
That's where my problem started. Once you have had a strong enough whack of it to cause a reaction, then your body will react to the slightest hint of it. Imagine having been threatened with a gun. For the rest of your life you would shiver merely seeing one. I am now a confirmed label reader.
The items to avoid are: anything containing an isothiazolinone. It doesn't matter if it's a Methyl, Benzo or any other prefix.
    Made in Indonesia - why?
It is named Dettol Original, but it's not.
An internet search on MCI will give you loads of information.
