I have a stupid question, can these replace a standard twin socket or is extra wiring required for the USB ports?

Straight swap. No additional wiring required.
Might be worth checking the depth to ensure your existing back box has the sufficient depth.

What does the depth of the back box to accommodate this plug socket?

According to the reviews, one reviewer suggests they got it into a 25mm back box. So I guess that's the minimum.
But also depends how many cables are behind the existing socket as they may be daisy-chained off it.
