I picked up two today ( best before date Sep 23). If Farm Foods can sell it at this price and still make a profit why can’t Tesco, Sainsbury’s etc? The simple truth is they know they can get away with rinsing us for everything they can during the worst cost of living crisis in decades.

I normally buy M&S’s own butter as it’s cheaper and taste better than many of the big brands but it’s half the price. (edited)

Thanks for checking the bbe. Greed runs in the blood of most of these businesses. The expect the fittest to survive and the week to fall and dissappear. Have they no mercy whatsoever?

Wish I had a Farmfoods near me. Had to spend £1.99 getting a single block of butter last night from Tesco - extraordinary increase from only a year ago I feel.

Home bargins are selling the meadow churn butter for £1.49 if you have one near you?

The meadow churn is better value at £1.29 both salted and unsalted.

For those interested, I saw this deal today at my local farmfoods and the date was only till next month. Can't remember the exact date in March but I don't go through butter that quickly so had to pass this deal. I love the butter and for those who go through butter quickly it's fab!

You can freeze it so it'll last longer

Regarding best-before dates, I've had butter delivered from supermarkets with only a 1 month BBD. Sainsbury's tries to cover themselves by sometimes sending an email apologizing for SHORT-DATED products and giving the option to refuse delivery. Those that can remember the past when there was the EU butter mountain will know freezing butter is no problem. So if it is short-dated and a good price, buy it and freeze it. (edited)

I'm probably older than most of the subscribers on this site but I recall back in the 70's there was a butter mountain and if you were on a low wage or on benefits you were entitled to free butter, highly unlikely that's going to happen in this day and age judging by the price it is today (edited)

This is on promo @ SAINSBURY'S, priced @ £2.00. If FARMFOODS can source products such as this at a better price than SAINSBURY'S, then maybe SAINSBURY'S should consider a revamp of their buying department. Or is SAINSBURY'S using inflation problems as an excuse for ripping off consumers, which I consider is happening with the other so-called big names in supermarkets and food producers ?

Precisely what's happening. But you also got to remember that famrfoods is a discounter and so the shelf life of this butter will be a lot less than what Sainsbury's would stock hence the price difference maybe (edited)

I'd have gone for it if I hadn't stocked up on the MeadowChurn
