About this deal
This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:
Pretty regular offer from Uswitch/EE, however I thought I'd post to raise awareness that as this is their Essential Plan, this includes EE's "Stay Connected Data". This means you will never be without data, instead being speed restricted for the remainder of the month (to 0.5Mbps) if you've used your allowance.
Personally, I think this gives piece of mind without buying more data than you need to avoid data anxiety! Essentially it's unlimited data (with the first 10GB per month being unrestricted)
What is "Stay Connected"? - MORE DETAILS HERE
If you use up your monthly data allowance, you’ll automatically switch to a slower speed (0.5Mbps), which is fine for using WhatsApp and Maps and for messaging friends.
To go back to full speed you can buy a daily or monthly Data Boost or wait until your bill cycle refreshes.

It's more likely that they've deprioritised 4G or something... But it wouldn't make sense to do so.
Not sure if this helps you but I’ve just moved to Plusnet and am really pleased with speeds compared to Tesco mobile. I live in Chester…plusnet mobile is faster than our home broadband
It's explained in the More details here link in the deal description
On the page you're offered extras by EE - scroll to the bottom. "Got a gift voucher?"
Student codes work with this - just checked with a Totum code.
I don't think they work with this offer. Blue Light discount however does take it down to £8
It's not unlimited as such - however you'll never be without data. Rather than switching your data off after the 10gb, EE's "Stay Connected" will just drop your speed to 0.5Mbps instead.
Same for me. I regularly use around 3-5GB a month, but constantly searching for more with slower networks to avoid data anxiety. This gives me the speed and coverage of EE but the piece of mind without paying for high data packages. (edited)
If it were me - I'd keep what you have here. For now, 5g isn't all that amazing in normal usage other than looking nice on a speed test. It's also a battery hog on most devices.
I may be wrong, but I'm sure PlusNet doesn't get access to all the bands EE offer? (Specifically 800Mhz Band 20 - which is responsible for good indoor 4g coverage - low frequency, good penetration). I think 1p Mobile and TTMM are the only EE MVNO's to get this band.
Not til April 2023, by which point you'll be at the end of your contract. (edited)
Peace of mind
Just saying
That’s the deal I’m moving from. As good as it is, the data speeds go from being 700mb one minute to 0.2 the next. Perhaps better in your area?
Depends if you have a device that's 5g compatible, as plusnet only has 4g coverage where as EE is 5g, will also depend on coverage in your area for 5g.
I’ve definitely got it working on my laptop (although the code was already inputted from a different deal) - can’t get it to work on my phone though.
You can ask the question. It will tie you into another 12 month plan and although you will gain 5G and stay connected data, you will lose those roaming benefits you likely get now.
Ah, you're right. Think I'll stick with what I've got and keep the roaming benefits. Thanks!
I've always found I had to ask for my PAC to leave EE, the salesperson can't offer much but a day later their retention team call and mysteriously offer far better deals. You can ask for your PAC code and have 30 days to use it (to leave EE) but if you don't give it to a new supplier then you stay with EE, so it's a risk free strategy.
It's called stay connected. After you run out of data you get limited speeds that will allow you to use WhatsApp, Maps, etc
Over last 12 months I've noticed EE 4g is getting weaker in South East Liverpool, especially indoors. I spoke to EE in-store a few weeks ago about this and they admitted it's because EE are introducing 5g and gradually phasing out 4g! That's why I'm interested to see if having 5g improves data signal
Obviously it will depend on your area, but the general opinion is that O2 offers more coverage for calls and SMS but EE will be much better for 4G/5G coverage and speed
Yes, sorry - should have come back to say! They did not ring me, so I rang them - guy was a bit dry (no banter/small talk to be had) & it took about 20 minutes, but yes, without any issues they honoured.
Have not opened the bill yet though. (edited)
It would do the basics but I wouldn't want to rely on it for any streaming service without reducing the playback to AM radio equivalent
Only O2 and Three have 5G service in my area.
That data slowdown after you use your data allowance looks a lot like the AT&T and T-Mobile strategy in the US I saw when I considered getting a sim in the US last week. (edited)
Not sure those codes work with this deal
Under gift codes? Totum code won’t work for me
I couldn't get the Student Beans code to work, is it just Totum that's works with Uswitch offers? (edited)
