OruxMaps lets you create your own offline multimaps, e.g. OS 25K + Strava Heatmaps.

Useful for spotting paths that noone bothers trying (through hostile farmers yards) but also well trodden paths that aren't public footpaths.

Are they better than alltrails? I use alltrails (mostly for finding nice trails) a lot but never tried OS

OS 25k map layer is free on Bing desktop site. You can select an area and print just the bits you need.

True, and there's no substitute for a decent paper map.

But the advantage of a map on a phone as a backup is it will tell you where you are.

I really like this app, it’s one of the very few that I’m happy to pay for - the quality of the maps is fantastic - at least for the UK. There are thousands of walks available within it - from walking magazines as well as the community.

You can download map sections to your phone - exactly the same as Google Maps - so it can be relied upon even in areas without a good phone signal.

Thank you OP. Longtime OS subscriber and mine runs out next week. Used code and still works and that a nice few pounds saved. Thank you.

I use all the time. I've got 4 dedicated GPS's but they are consigned to a drawer these days.

I use with a paper map as back up for a "bigger picture look".

    Two things = topcashback.
Use bixby button on Samsung phone, one or two presses (you choose) and you are in.

I have more than enough time left on my current subscription so won't buy today but hot OP. (edited)

I have the os map app, with a premium sub. Part of my works account. I download a lot of maps, but can never login without a signal on the phone. Kind of defeats the purpose.

Unless I'm doing something wrong. Haven't used it very much for this reason

I have been using downloaded maps for a number of years without too many problems (buying individual maps). Been using this version in wales last week on a Poco X3 again without any issues

great app. Always got it at around this price for the past few years with discount codes.

Prefer it to other mapping apps as the map detail is better and has loads of walking/running routes made public by users.
