If you have any interest at all in golf then this is a no brainer, probably my favourite VR game.
Even if you don’t, the different game modes make it enjoyable still.
My friends and I often play weekly multiplayer on it, and have done for a couple of years. As Dribbles says, the developers keep adding to it, improving and growing endorsements with the PGA further improve the experience. They also have a great Discord community if that’s your thing.
A new course of TPC Sawgrass was added this week but even without buying that (for £5.99, however the base version gives you 4 or 5 courses you don’t need to pay for), you can play a beta mode called Beat The Pro for free where you get to mirror what the pros are doing almost live in the tournament this weekend and then play the hole yourself. Hard to explain but this vid gives you an idea from when they tested it a few weeks ago:

Honestly, a bargain for £15 for what you get (edited)

I bought my lad a Quest 2 for Xmas. Then I bought this. 2 weeks later I had bought my own one
Absolutely addicted to it now. It's like real Golf but better. No walking about in the cold, no losing the ball when you shank it in to the long grass. Playing multiplayer with a friend is even better. I'm totally sold.

I bought this game when it was just Pro Putt, it's great to see it come on so far.

This is the cheapest this has been in over a year (and probably the cheapest it has been since it introduced full golf courses etc.)

Don't have a clue about vr headsets can anyone recommend a half decent headset for a gift up to around £250 or do you really need to splash the big cash for the proper experience . Appreciate any pointers

I agree with , the Meta Quest 2 is likely to be your best bet, the Pico 4 is a close second, but if you plan on playing online multiplayer, the Quest has a much larger player base (and choice of games to play).

You can get a 2nd hand one for around £250, but a new one will cost you £399 for the 128gb version, or £429 for the 256gb version, personally now they have dropped the 256gb price, I think it's a no brainer to spend the extra £30 for twice the storage space.

A tip for people that just bought the game. If you leave a review on the Oculus Store for the game and join their golf club on their website, you can play Valhalla without paying for it.

Great game and a steal at this price. I love coming back for the weekly challenges. It always seems to get updated, too.

Nice, just got the meta quest. Was thinking to get this. Do people rate it?

I'd say it's probably the most inclusive golf game on the Quest, not just full courses, but plenty of other things too, mini golf, TopGolf lounge with multiplayable mini games (cornhole, driving range targets, etc.) (edited)

Looking at the product page, the real golf courses are all DLC at £5 EACH?! There is a bundle for £25 which gets you 4 courses and some in game currency, is the base game for £15 any good?
    Dribbles_MacTavish's avatar

Yes, you get a few full courses with the base game anyway, think it’s the real life courses you have to pay for (probably to pay for the licensing)

This is a great game and lots of work has gone into it.

However, I bought it last year, played 36 holes over 2 days, then went out and played real golf. I could not hit the ball. It was like I have never played golf (played for 25 years). I gave up after 2 holes and didn't play real golf for 2 weeks. After this I seemed to be ok again. It's almost as though it messed with my muscle memory or something. It was really strange.

    Anyone else encountered this?

I think it's the difference between hitting a real ball or not. You don't get the same feeling of the strike and resistance.
