30fps on a camera designed for action cold

30 fps is more than enough for smooth action videos.
i'd vote your comment cold if i could.

It depends on the speed of the action, the focal object and the width of the frame - objects travelling from one side of the frame to the other at high speed can be quite jarring and/or suffer from heavy blurring at lower frames rates. You're also limited if you want to do any slow motion footage unless you're going to use something like Twixtor to digitally create the missing frames.

I do, with a GoPro Hero 3 White, and 30fps is fine. For the price, this is hot. Not sure calling someone a numpty is in the spirit of this forum.

Seems a reasonable price for some cool action fun. We cant all afford GoPro's

Bit of a long shot but can anyone tell me if this would be any good for filming a golf swing to play back on a PC in slow motion?

All TV's support 50hz (50fps) and vast majority support 60hz (60fps)...even old CRT tubes can do 60hz.

Just another budget GoPro, heat from me!! For those that cannot afford GoPro this is a sweet alternative!

Good for the price - you don't worry quite as much about damage at this price (_;)

Whats the Price Up for a GoPro? I need a Camera for Karting and have been looking Into getting one for a while. Hitachi have always been Good Buy's for me in the past.

would have bought this but for the battery time. 50 mins isn't enough when you are on the slopes all day. heat though as for the price it looks adequate

    Thanks OP.

Reserved one. Good video from a guy called Jonathan Gill on Youtube, he's also found a suitable battery - SLB-10A Battery, go as cheap as £3.99 for x2 on the Bay, so battery life should not be a problem. Need to charge in camera or you could even pickup a SLB-10A charger for about £10 if you want.

Have been considering GoPro 3+, but at £300+, I just could not justify it for a few hours use each year skiing. Hopefully this budget cam will be decent to mess about with.

Hot. Great camera I use mine instead of a Gopro and get some great crisp vids hanging it under my hexacopter. Also goes under the name PQI Action Camera

  26. deleted943017's avatar
is there an app to control it like a gopro?

You mean a dashcam ^^ I can imagine so, just without the feature of recording over old footage once the space is full

Not suitable as a dashcam. The minimum requirement of a dashcam is 'loop recording', e.g. records video in, say, 5 minute clips (with no gaps in footage) until the memory card is full, then starts overwriting the oldest clips. The ability to plug it into the car's cigarette lighter socket for battery recharging is also essential.

I don't want to continue ad nauseum here.. but 30fps is "fine", no it isn't "excellent", but it is fine for a bit of recording and play. No, it will not be broadcast quality, but would you expect that for £60 quid?

hence my cold, because its a heap of crap. To argue the notion this is a good product and a replacement / as good as - for a go-pro as some have mentioned here is amazing.

Might as well get a Kodak Play which DOES 60fps has image stabilization, waterproof and can be mounted easily. Wouldnt touch this even for "fine" usage with a barge pole.

    COLD !

If it'll charge and record at the same time you can use an external battery to extend the record time whilst still retaining a small footprint - amazon.co.uk/s/r…ery
  38. dannyeff's avatar

Yeah I already thought about that, just gonna buy extra battery's. Charge them separate. I'm using it for fishing so hopefully get decent 720p footage

Benefit of the external batteries is you don't need to interrupt the recording to swap batteries.
