I've got a hyperx headset from 20 years ago still working, wife was just using it for work because the speakers on her £1.5k work laptop died. Finally got me a gaming wife. (edited)

I think mine are 7 yo, still sound great. The wire is a little loose, but still fully covered near the aux jack, that’s it.

Are these substantially different from this ADX version from Curry's at a quarter this price?

Other than the branding they are physically identical, down to the mouldings on the hinges. Only the drivers could be different, and that seems doubtful.

I bought these (the ADX ones) when they were £8 on HUKD, excellent value at that price, not at all sure about £40.

Adx ones aren't 7.1 surround sound. It does make a big difference

I splashed out on the HyperX Cloud Revolver and had to use the warranty process within less than 6 months. What a total palaver. They wanted photos of the headset from different angles with a signed and dated note in the background. Took over a month for the replacements to arrived - but I had to sign up to their Discord channel as there are still no other methods of communication!
I see a post for the Revolver has a 54% off making them £64.99. However I couldn't recommend them over these.

Also what I find disgusting is the fact that you have to buy a subscription to use the decoding software - seriously a subscription to listen to any audio? What a world we live in!
(I get that you don't _need_ the DTS subscription to use the headphones, but come on!) (edited)

Due to having hearing problems, are these quite loud?

My current steel series ones are "ok" but I could do with something a bit louder.
