Is this a good dock then? There's so many different makes

mine has been fine. build quality is really nice. a nice aluminium build with decent rubber feet and pads to support the deck.
usb-c cable is nice. with a metal 90 degree angle. and doesn't twist at all.

not really any more to say other than i would buy this again over the official dock.

What controller works best if I use this and connect to the tv??
    maddogx1's avatar
Any controller you are used to using. I use a dualsense ps5 controller with no issues.

If you're thinking of using with the rog ally, the 30w turbo mode doesn't show with the actual stamp due to a bug. However if you enable the monitor you'll see the APU watt can and will exceed 30w when gaming. Asus are looking at this issue with 3rd party docks. I bought the 6 in 1 jsaux dock last week and see this myself when gaming on it.

This also works with the standard charger that comes with the rog ally. (edited)

Think I should have got this instead of the official dock. I seem to get loads of issues with games crashing when i use the dock and the hdmi output to the tv is very hit n miss (forget now but have to plug in wires in a certain order and sometimes wont work after being in sleep mode). Thought by paying more I would get a more stable piece of tech

Totally agree, I was contemplating which one to get but eventually got the MOKiN 7 in 1, it has everything the official dose and it is half the price, currently you can pick it up for £28.79, if it shows the 20% voucher on your account, otherwise it's £35.99.

Why are these docks so expensive? I'll pay no more than £15.

There's a few differences as 10 years ago even usb2 could be quite flakey.
Also have to check specs as cheaper hubs can't do 4K at 60hz and only do 30hz etx

Official dock on my Benq monitor -no problems.
Official dock on my Hisense TV - absolute disaster.

Hopefully this is better. I’ll give it a go.

This is the dock I have for my SteamDeck. Haven't been able to fault it. I have Windows 11 on my SteamDeck and it works perfectly for that.

I paid slightly more direct from Jsaux for their similar model that has USB 3 and gigabit Ethernet. Worth checking out their store as they often have offers and vouchers.

Good dock. If you want a second power adapter then the official one is a better buy though

Any way to use the GPD WIN 3 with this (usbc port is dead centre underneath)?
    MCCCJK's avatar
Flip the GPD so it's upside down? The dock USB C cable isn't very long though.

Get a USB C extension and somehow prop up the GPD, maybe with another kickstand that has a hole for the bottom? Some Nintendo switch stands have them. (edited)

As people have said, the official valve one does come with another bona fide charger. That justifies the £80 price tag a diddy bit more. I've not had an issue with either valve dock or a 3rd party one Ive used? Maybes I used a later version valve one?
I got a 256gb SD and 3rd party dock, but decided I wanted a 512 for the anti glare screen so I bought one off eBay with an official dock. I decided to sell it on with the 256 to try and recoup some of the cost of the 512. I found no real benefit to the official dock (it was nice and compact, well made, and the little cable was nicer quality) other than the extra PSU.

Does anyone have this? Can it work with a case on your Steam Deck?
    Joseph_Molloy's avatar
I have a stand on mine that I need to remove when using this dock. Will depend on the thickness of the case.

    Anyone tried on rog ally?

Popular dock. Not a fan of the side loaded ethernet port.
