The KF version is the one without the internal GPU, exactly the same otherwise and generally cheaper.

13700k is another £80 on top, for not a great deal of gain. What's your primary usage?

Warning- this is a SIX core processor for 300 quid. The extra 8 so-called e-cores lack features needed for game code, which is why when 2023 AAA games are coded to use EIGHT cores, they have major issues on Intel/Nvidia high end gaming systems.

The Nvidia 4070 launches today/tomorrow. All the bigger tech influencer sites have refused to benchmark 2023 games for this reason. Intel/Nvidia systems literally crash on these games at highest settings if they only have 6 real cores and less than 16GB of VRAM.

Yes the game code is poor (after years of Nvidia giving coding guidelines to most AAA devs), but it isn't as if the end user can recode the games they wish to play. If you plan to spend major money on a gaming PC, you want 8 real cores (not e-cores) and 16GB+ of VRAM.

PS many productivity apps cannot use the e-cores either, which is why tech sites use the exact same Intel recommended benchmark apps for all their testing.

Do you actually believe this nonsense?

It's about processing power not core count.

Not sure your right on that. Modern games from what I've read need 8 cores. Also appears 12gb vram is the new minimum and even 32gb of ram is now a thing. Think I will wait six months longer before my new build, thinking of going full on AMD for three first time ever.

Do these chips run hot? Friend wants to build an office computer. 125tdp seems high.

They run very hot, what kind of office work is your friend planning to do with a 300quid cpu ? You can get a whole office PC for 300£ (edited)

Can anyone explain way to is 125w for most K models but 65w for non K, the fact non K actually uses more watts in most reviews I see?
    gummby's avatar
    gummby
I would imagine the K are all overclocked so use more power. The non k versions may have setting to reduce overall power usage. Think the k version has more L2 memory too and a slightly different design. One is designed for performance the other for general pc usage.
