    These will be a much better long-lasting water-proof boot over any of those massively over-priced 'modern' Gore-Tex 'walking' shoes. The Gore-Tex shoe will soak the foot even in wet grass, once the Gore-Tex 'sock' fails (which happens after a surprisingly low number of miles).
