Yep, pixel shifting like BargainsUnlimited wrote. I was always thinking native 4K was the way to go... but at around £5k for native that's a big jump. Also from what I have read you can't tell the difference between native 4K and pixel shift.
You can unlock functionality (e.g. Autocal, IP control) of the more expensive AU810 via the service menu accessible via IR command.

It would probably benefit from calibration for sure but also bear in mind most projectors are not forgiving of bad sources like SD in the first place. When I had my DLA-HD350 I wouldn’t waste bulb life on anything that wasn’t high definition content

I’ve been using in on and off for a while used 1350 hrs … .I can start to see some differences in the content but then again I think it might just be my trigger fingers getting the urge to buy something new lol
Does this use pixel shifting, or is it genuine 4k
looks like a good deal to me. not every good deal is an impulse buy, thank goodness.
Pixel shifting, but gets good write up. I've gone for it
I don't have this one, I bought a UHD30 Optoma which also uses pixel shifting. Honestly I think the picture quality looks amazing so I have no issue with pixel shifting. My understanding is that projectors under about £5k are all going to be pixel shifted and not genuine. They can still be great projectors though.

Agreed... as much as I would love to buy this, having just got an OLED TV last year I can't justify upgrading my current projector.
Wow, Very good price.
This is a very good price, but I feel like I would not be satisfied and would quickly want to upgrade to something like a JVC DLA-N5 if I was already spending this much and wanting to get back into projection (yes I know it’s 3x more expensive but that’s the difference between a low-end tv replacement and going into true home cinema territory) (edited)
I have a Jvc x700r - am I silly to purchase this ??

While it’s a bit old I would imagine in a dark room your JVC D-ILA still wipes the floor with this in performance, or at the very least wouldn’t warrant an upgrade. This projector really is for someone that doesn’t already have a home cinema setup and will have issues with ambient light.
Is this bright enough to watch stuff during the day?
