    We've got one of these and it's good. Just don't expect a £20 home shredder to be able to work like a proper work/office unit. If you feed in 6 sheets at once it's going to get hot pretty quickly. The key to successful home shredding is to shred little and often.

    I know but worth it (about £33 when I purchased) for infinitely less threat of catching on fire. Argos told me to return as unsafe and I just get the feeling that it is a substandard product. It is meant to have protection against overheating but clearly not in my case! (edited)

    Had to return this as it started smoking on me. The Amazon Basics version of this I replaced it with is much better.

    This one most likely produces 4 × 35 mm scraps. (DIN level 4). Good enough for home use.

    My rexel always smokes during a harsh session. You're not supposed to run them for long than a few minutes for home models, with a 10-15 cool down period. I usually run mine until the thermal cut out kicks in after 5-10 minutes

    Cool it with an ice block and 3 mins later go again! It's still going strong after 10 years. Do keep an eye on it when it starts to smoke lol!!
