I got this on the £99 Amazon deal a while back, i thought it was a bit slow at first but the recent update to android 13 and open UI 5.1 improved it massively

A8 isn't worth the money, it's slow as hell.
I suppose if you are only using it for watching videos and nothing else then maaaybe it's OK but for anything else you'd be better off with a used ipad from a few gens ago

This is a brand new tablet, I can't imagine anyone would want to downgrade to a secondhand iPad and pay more for a device that will most likely be obsolete in about a years time if you're lucky it even lasts that long. (edited)

I have this tablet (from the deal last year) and I think it's pretty good for the money. I mainly use it for VLC, YouTube, some browsing, google maps and a few other things and have not had any issues at all.

I got this in the last deal. Used mainly for videos maps and general browsing and it's fine never found it to be sluggish.

I think you'll find that most of these kinds of criticisms come from iSheep who love to shill Apple at every opportunity.

I've currently got a Huawei matepad BAH3-W09 (32 & 3) and I'm sick of it not having playstore.

I'm tempted to get the 4gb variant of the Samsung A8 - we use it for Netflix, general office tasks uploading to the cloud etc (not a massive amount of gaming although I would download a playstation remoteplay app if it was usable......but not a deal breaker)

would you clever folk recommend this tablet or something else? I've seen the honor x8 4gb and the levovo m10 3rd gen for about 140 each

don't want to spend more than 150 really
    what would you recommend?

EDIT - or just make do with my current tablet without playstore? (edited)

The 64gb/4gb ram version is the one to go for and it performs well.

32gb version has 3 gb of ram 64gb has 4gb ram, if you can afford it the 64gb is worth the extra I would have thought.

Had this for a few months, tablet is slow and choppy, but we use it for a toddler for var journeys, once a program is playing it's the same as any other tablet. Great for the price. Good feel in the hand.

Have the 64GB and it works fine. Not used for games or video. Looses about 12GB to operating systems and bloatware so the 32GB fills up quick.

Is it possible to trade-in old iPad
    sheffield788's avatar
    sheffield788
Yes, but why will you do that? I've sold my iPad mini first gen for £50. I've got several offers in within an hour of posting the sale. You can get £10-15 tablets in working condition (or broken ones for less) from eBay and sell your ipad for more. (edited)

There is an option to send Any Broken Tablet but then the next page asks whether its in good condition. I have an old Samsung tablet that probably doesnt charge anymore (cant even find a charging cable that fits it). Customer support are saying it wont be acceptabed therefore. So what even is a Broken Tablet? lol

Comments under similar expired trade-in deals from Samsung confirmed that it worked with even tablets taken apart and not re-assembled properly. Worst case scenario, if trade-in not accepted, you can send it back.

If you're in Portsmouth/Fareham I can give you an old tablet for free to trade-in.

One important thing about this tablet is that it actually has sensors, compass etc, so great with navigation apps like locus.....one of the very few tablets that has a compass

Hi, Sorry what is EPP. It's says this price through EPP? any code for it? Thanks

No codes. You need a vaild portal to click through via a link that takes you to the Samsung website, which gives you the offers.

Same discount through Blue Light Card account. Sometimes when selecting the tablet you have to refresh the page for the £50 off trade-in option to appear.

Thanks and hot! Purchased the 64GB for mother in law, via Blue Light. Earliest delivery date 26th. Info suggests they need the trade in within a week, the problem is it is bank holiday that weekend and on Tue AM we will be gone for a week...
Can anyone who received it confirm if Samsung actually sticks with the delivery date, or there is a chance we will get it earlier, thanks.

I can't emphasize enough how much better the 64gb version with 4gb ram is. I see the My Next Tablet guy on YouTube said he no longer recommends this base model version anymore. (edited)

Anyone know what the best 8" Android tablet there is?

    For context, I currently use a rather old HUAWEI MediaPad M5 8 – 8.4".

It's getting a bit slow and only runs Android 8. (edited)

Amazing, this came with a 7.5w charger. What a waste manufacturing such chargers! I didn't need another charger. I don't understand those complaining when the phones come without a charger. Who needs a 7.5w charger in 2023? A8 charges at 15w and probably everyone has such a charger at home. (edited)
