Sounds like you were just unlucky, played it on PS5 as well zero problems at al not one bugs nothing. Might want to uninstall and reinstall this is ps5 issue installation some times go strange on there console, never had a problem like this on series x but already had to reinstall a few games due to strange unexplained bugs were the solution was reinstall the game on ps5.
I have played every sonic game because my kid wanted me to and this is by far a really far way the best sonic game there is. Not stating the original games but beside those this is the best you will get. World is full of stuff to do. Cuts scene are a little strange but do look really good. Its more for kids and people that like sonic than for people who have no interest in him besides as a game char.
I would highly recommend this game to anyone that want to play a modern sonic.
I had no problems when I played it on the PS5..........Nintendo Switch....different story!
