Looks like they've price matched with Amazon Prime Day deal if you need it sooner - but I thought it would be better buying directly from Sony as you can get 3.15% cashback via Topcashback, taking an extra £20+ off.

Sharp shooting
Equipped with a 35 mm full frame 24.3 megapixel CMOS sensor, the Sony a7 II Mirrorless Camera delivers highly detailed images with low noise, an extremely wide dynamic range and subtle graduations. Powered by a BIONZ X processor, the a7 II offers speed and precision while faithfully reproducing natural textures and details.

The a7 II gives you the freedom to shoot thanks to the innovative 5-axis image stabilisation, the first of its kind featured on a full-frame mirrorless camera. This highly effective image stabilisation technology compensates for five different types of camera shake for greater confidence when zooming, snapping close-ups and capturing night scenes.

Hybrid autofocus
Track your subject with speed and accuracy thanks to high-performance Fast Hybrid AF, which lets you get the most from the full-frame sensor. This AF system delivers an extremely high-speed response, highly accurate prediction and wide area coverage for autofocusing and tracking you can rely on.

For capturing fast moving subjects the a7 II offers fast 5 fps continuous AF/AE shooting with sharp, well-exposed results. An improved algorithm accurately predicts subject movement for steady tracking even when shooting continuously.

HD recording
Capture high quality video in Full HD at 50 Mbps with the high bit-rate XAVC S format which offers high image quality with minimal noise, while the high sensitivity range brings dark scenes to life.

Playback images and video with the 3” LCD screen, which conveniently tilts upwards and downwards for a comfortable viewing angle. This flexibility offers excellent versatility when shooting creatively at low or high angles.

Wireless connectivity
Instantly upload and share thanks to NFC and WiFi connectivity which lets you connect wirelessly to an NFC enabled smartphone or tablet with just one touch.

The Sony's range of PlayMemories Camera apps give you extra functionality such as creating a photographic album, experimenting with effects or turning your smartphone into a remote.

A relic left behind by modern day phones which offer much more, e.g. S23 Ultra has 108mp and even the upcoming iphone 15 pro camera offers double at 48mp.

It's a brilliant camera. Full frame takes some beating before we go into the rest of the technology.

I'm shocked at the prices of the sony range (and mirrorless in general) . The sony prices have been completely stagnant despite there now being an a7 iv available for a while and the alternate options in the a7r range.
The a7ii is a notable step behind the a7iii though, and if you're looking to get into the sony eco system, something with a crop sensor might be a better start with more modern features. Or if you're willing to look at used, the a7iii can be had for not much more but with significant usability improvements.

It is but you can still get stunning pictures with the A7 ii. But agree the original A7 is not too much different to the A7 ii and the A7 iii provides a notable step up and is the sweet spot. The A7 iv is just incremental

Thats a good price. Old technology but for the price its a good deal for someone looking for a full frame camera. I have a A7III paid £1500 just for the body when it was released.

Old technology? Thought mirrorless was the in thing?

A ridiculous price for a 10 year old camera with terrible autofocus and only average picture quality.
I can't believe people are happy to spend the thick end of a grand on a 5 generation old camera body.

Close end to a grand or just over 500 quid? Pair this with quality glass I’d have no issues get good pictures lol

Personally I would pay a bit more and get a second hand A7 III as it’s a big jump up on features and battery life.

Agreed. Video was improved a lot too.

As someone who owns a A7IV and had a A7II its not worth moving to this model, loads of the features within the IV smoke the II.

Personally if I was after a new camera system I'd invest in Nikon Z. Can adapt Sony's lenses and isn't crippled optically like the APS-C designed E mount.

Mad you can get brand new full frame at this price. Combine it with any of the Sony prime lenses and you have a top combo.

It's still a capable photo camera (dated for video), but worth noting this camera was released in 2014.

I'm a big fan of buying cameras a few years old myself as you save so much. It's £500 used on MPB so this isn't a terrible price.

I'm sure we can have this argument until the cows come home but if you'd camera budget is around £1k, don't rule out APS-C over Full Frame. A modern Fuji can be had for around 1k with a lens.

They are more portable, nice to handle and personally more beginner friendly
(I traded a A7RIII in for a Fujifilm X-E4 because it's sooo much nicer to use)

Also, being APS-C every accessory, lens etc tends to be more moderately priced than the Full Frame version.

I got an A7C with a few lenses for £1400 about 2 years ago. You can find great deals if you look hard. The value of the lenses was worth more than the camera
