sorted byI disagree i think Skyrim is a beautifully crafted world with lots of unique and interesting things to discover, its a fare more enriching game than the generic muddey greeny brown rubble strewn landscapes of most FPS games which the gaming scene is sadly far to over subscribed. though i do agree with you in as much that 8hours of quality game play is more important than 50hours of rubish but luckily IMHO skyrim has both quality and length.
If you want to complete all the quests it takes about 200 hours so it works out about 4 pence per hour
Ordered and Hear Added
+ another 200 hours just wondering around and going "Oooh, what's that over there? I must investigate!".
I think you may have missed a bit...

I have 100s in my steam library from the steam sales over the past couple of years, most of which I've yet to install let alone play.
Mod advice from a friend:
That depends on basically your hardware, specifically your dedicated graphics memory. 1GB & above, you can do a lot to make it look better. If you haven't already got one, get a Skyrim Nexus account & download/instal Nexus Mod Manager before you do anything else. Then get B.O.S.S. & WyreBash, & TesEdit5, learn to use then. Next is to have a good look at S.T.E.P. there are recommendations there for all PC setups. Don't forget the "Unofficial Skyrim Patch" (& Unofficial DawnGuard Patch too, either buy it or PB it, you really should get it.
If you come through all that sane, and want to go further, gimme a nudge & I'll let you know which of the thousands of modz are worth adding. DON'T use the Steam Workshop, it SUX, just use the Nexus.
WARNING getting too heavily into modding can detract from the game experience as intended by Bethesda - and eat into your social life!
What I mean is, if you're just playing the 'vanilla' game, all you worry about is the game. Once you start seriously modding, the game/story (as a contiguous narative) can go out of the window in favour of pimping the max out of it. Especially as you're advised to roll up a new character after every patch +/or major modding sesh. Vanilla Skyrim has MANY bugs & glitches, you need the Unofficial patches & TesEdit5 (as an absolute minimum) to sort them out. But with such a small GfxMem, stay away from all the HD texture modz, ESPECIALLY the free official HD pack.
For sure do the .ini tweaks etc in the S.T.E.P. project!
...and make sure your game is the latest patch (1.8.171.07)
So I have you all to thank for next to no sleep last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oO
It would not matter if this garbage had 500 quests enjoy going into the similar linear dungeon and killing the three different enemy types.
Quite simply the best game I have ever played.
Google does.
In the end my gaming concious got the better of me and I've just ordered it, I'll add to my list of growing bargain PC games via HUKD that I've bought / installed on Steam and are yet to play.
Me too but I've been waiting for a deal on this one since I built my new PC over the summer. No idea when I will find the time to play it though.
There is a very easy way to do this.
1- Locate your Steam folder.
2 - Delete Every file in it except Steam.exe and the SteamApps folder.
3 - Move folder to new location (your 2TB HD)
4 - Run Steam.exe - This will now reinstall steam
5 - For any games that say 'update paused' just right click, go properties, and then 'verify game cache'
Yes all you have to do is open steam up at the bottom left of the steam client it should say Add game. Click that then register a game on steam or something like that. You then enter the key and it will download.
Thanks for posting this.
thanks!
You can't have played Oblivion, it was like someone with no control of their arms flailing a sword around...
I found this similarly frustrating but I've bought it anyway Good job I'm off today, have little on over the weekend and have two days off next week. Nice timing!
Thanks, OP!
