Any idea on how to get these sort of deals as an existing customer? We've been with them since they were NTL and are paying £75 for Phone, 200MB broadband and basic tv. I called them up once and they wouldn't offer a better deal.

Tell em about this offer. Last time I just put it in the wife's name as a new order. Didn't bat an eyelid and got a new customer deal when they were being funny.

I've got an existing Netflix account with 4k can I transfer the Netflix discount onto the same account or does it need to a brand new account assuming it can just get knocked off the 4k price, so I'll pay about a fiver a month??

Hi you can transfer the current membership you just let Virgin know the email the current Netflix accounts registered with also i think you can get the higher plan you just pay the difference

You can upgrade Netflix Standard to Netflix Premium as an optional add-on service. If you already have an existing account with a Netflix Premium membership plan, then you can link that plan to your eligible bundle when you activate Netflix as part of your eligible bundle. Or if you wish to upgrade to Netflix Premium as part of your eligible bundle at a later date, then you can do so at any time. If you wish to review the details of your Netflix membership plan, please visit the ‘Account’ pages on the Netflix website or call Virgin Media Customer Care and we can upgrade this for you.Netflix Premium will be charged at an additional monthly cost and will be added to your Virgin Media bill. If you decide to downgrade from Netflix Premium to Netflix Standard, you can do so at any time and still enjoy Netflix Standard as part of your eligible bundle at no additional cost. The cost of Netflix Premium optional add-on service may increase during your contract. If this happens, you will be notified beforehand and have the option to downgrade to Netflix Standard. Alternatively, you can cancel your Netflix Premium optional add-on service by giving us 30 days’ notice. (edited)

How would you do that? My Virgin contract is up in August at the moment and would be interested in deferring this deal until then.

Looks like no one has mentioned it but you can also get £197 cashback from topcashback compare broadband. Makes it approximately £65 per month after both.

Sorry, just saw this. It was on the webchat not Whatsapp. With Netflix and 6 months of Disney+ included I went for it as it is very close to what I pay now, but with 350gb and no Sky Sports or movies plus currently a 6gb sim.

Don't speak with Virgin lol, no need to. You'll lose the volt benefits. Not sure what they are with this deal. Virgin won't know you've cancelled O2. When I stop working I'll try find the link from Virgins own page and share the link about it all. Lots of folks including myself have done it, you can too

2 years ago I did something similar whereby I cancelled virgin and said me and the wife had split however she wanted to keep the TV going so will be signing up for a new deal, they literally didn't care and we had zero problems. Different name and different credit check I imagine. Funnily enough I think our deal is up so it may be time to split up again...

My dad is hopeless with sorting stuff like this out and is getting well and truly shafted by Virgin.

    Bigger bundle + Sports £136.00

    • Talk Weekends
    • Full House TV (Xl)
    • 1 Additional TV Box
    • Virgin TV V6 Box, Powered By TiVo
    • M200 Fibre Broadband
    • Sky Sports Collection
    • Sky Sports HD Pack
    • Telephone Line Rental

This is what he's currently got so shouldn't be hard to improve it massively. Does anyone have any luck with the online chat or is it best to just go straight for phoning them?

I've done this several times now, and best to phone and cancel and don't accept anything they offer. You will then have 30 days and in my experience retentions will always phone you and it is they who have the better deals to offer you and I always manage to get at least the new customer deals. I prefer not to sign up in different name because it is a bit more hassle with sometimes a brief period without internet (plus we have mortgage application coming up soon...)

Says offer only valid until 9th June unfortunately. I'm cancelling end of June (last 30 days of contact) to start the retentions negotiations once again. I got the equivalent of this deal on retentions 18 months ago. Even better now with Netflix also bundled this time (edited)

Be warned that VM will put their price up around 4-5% at least once during the year and sometimes more or more frequently. I pay £27/m for 100MB internet only but the fixed term discount will end in August and I'm planning on leaving them anyway as I've got 3 mobile broadband which is much slower (no 5G and a poor signal) but only £3 month thanks to a business SIM deal here a few months ago.

I've no doubt VM expect people to ring up and haggle/threaten to leave and they factor this in, but I sometimes wonder if part of the plan is to tie people into another 18M contract when they're offered a better deal...

They do, just like all companies but this year they sent emails to say it was going up and you had 30 days from receipt of the email to cancel without penalty. I hope this is the norm going forward come RPI time.

I called for both the ultimate oomph package and a seperate mobile phone deal as got emails for both and managed to get them to knock off the price increase and still paying the price I signed up for with ultimate oomph package (£79pm) and same with the phone bill (£7pm).

I think if you cancel the O2 side of the deal completely you lose the Volt benefits such as doubling of broadband speed.
It is possible to downgrade the O2 service.

Bear in mind you almost certainly won't get gigabit broadband, as they don't have the hubs apparently. At least that's the excuse they use for not giving their existing customers gigabit even though they've signed up to the same package. They are crooks, avoid like the plague.
    the.porter's avatar
    the.porter
Apparently from the 1st June they received a new batch of hub4s
  20. JonG's avatar

New users should get the Hub4 which is giving me near enough gigabit broadband.

My PC is a long way from the hub and there are active security cameras using the network too and speeds are :-

    47574931-N3iyd.jpg
The only downsides for me after switching from BT is the Wi-Fi range is poorer (despite the higher speeds close to the hub - it drops off considerably futher away). I agree Customer Service is poorer than BT and Sky too.

There is also currently a problem on a lot of acccounts in gettng the free standard Netflix. Some people have been waiting weeks and weeks and still not got free Netflix. I've been waiting two weeks and still no resolution to the Netflix problem for me.

My landline phone line and number transferred over succesfully on the day of installation and Talk More Anytime is included in the package.

The TV package is great (apart from the current Netflix issue !) and a second box and remote is also included in the package.

I upgraded to this package yesterday and have the same issue with no access to the free Netflix. Raised it with customer service who didn’t fill me with confidence . Also my speed dropped from my previous package was on 600mb and getting 550mb download now on gig1 and getting 450mb download, another call raised and apparently they are working in my area and should be sorted by the 14th - I can guarantee I have to phone back on the 15th to be told that was never the issue

If you are in a VM area and need some or all of this then it's a great offer.
The O2 SIM is a separate charge to O2 for £25.
I used to have Unlimited data and never used more than 16GB. So I switched to o2 SIM at 20GB for £8. Got double data as I was with VM!

Wait for the renewal and then wait again for the renewal…and be surprised by a mid contract increase even your neighbour is not getting the same increase. Did I mention that you get foreign support who will promise you the world? In short, stay away…

Does anyone know if you sign up in partners name... Does the TV box get wiped? I'm wondering if you'd lose all your recordings and series links etc. I'm referring to the V6 box with existing software but guess the answer may differ once they upgrade the V6 software to 360 software

How is the virgin mobile coverage these days? My dad has virgin mobile and his coverage is awful. He's been on it since before O2 buy out but surely it's the same network and therefore is the coverage worse than every other provider?
I only ask as I want to upgrade my existing package to this one and cancel my mobile (which would save me a bit) but not at the expense of terrible mobile reception.
    Any thoughts?

I was with Virgin Media until recently. It took a great deal of patience and about three days to cancel the contract. From this experience, I would not go with Virgin Media again. Their customer service is worse than appalling.

If anyone struggle with waiting call to talk to a customer advisor etc. do it via WhatsApp! They got the option to move to WhatsApp. I did it thru WhatsApp, it was easy, guy gone thru whole contract with me before I've purchased it. Much easier than waiting for hours to talk to someone and still didn't get the help U need :/

I am broadband only and haggled for two days. Best they could do was £41 for the 512mb package
