Looking for a starter bike for a 8 - 10 yr old bike. £200 - £300. I note Forme bikes on clearance.. any good considering Shimano parts etc?

I know! That's exactly my type of bike, best bang for your buck. If you spend £500+ more it will only be slightly nicer.

Ahh, I bought the Nucleus VRS before Xmas for £590 or thereabouts or I’d have been all over this.
Although I’ve taken the VRS out of the box and assembled it, I haven’t actually ridden it yet and it’s still sitting in my spare room. Any idea if CRC would take it back without the box? (edited)

Would this be suitable for more leisurely canal rides and the occasional easy trail or am I better going for a hybrid type ? Thanks

Get a hybrid, will be faster.

But if you're going off road through the forest this bike is perfection. (edited)

Hi mate, I’m 5’7 will be mostly using this for bike rides round town / commuting with the other half, but also occasionally trail riding. would you recommend the 27.5 or 29?

IMO a 29" would better suit.

Anyone have any experience of adding an electric aftermarket kit and whether this would suit one?

I have seen videos of some on fire. I wouldn't risk it, if you want one buy one. (edited)

Anymore know what's the difference with sentier vr?

Same frame but on the VR most of the bits are a little bit nicer, better brakes, an extra gear out back, a better fork, dropper post etc

The VR is out of stock. Any one that picked one up with the extra 15% off got a bargain.
