I got this new (with a heatsink) for £85 from eBay back in December and it's a very fast drive. Be warned that WD don't provide any way to update their SSD firmware in Linux (no Linux updater and no presence in LVFS either), which is very poor for a silver member of the Linux Foundation! WD Support basically told me to install Windows, which was pretty unacceptable. (edited)

I have two SN850 drives which I bought a year ago. I didn't even know a firmware updater existed!

Thanks to your comment I now have it installed (edited)

That 2tb was the SN770, not this one. This is one of the fastest NVME's about. It'll be a little while before this drops further.

Heatsink recommendations? Or is it a case of "they're all the same, just get the cheapest option".

they're all the same. heatsink is a heatsink. all dissipate heat.
