Try sending yourself a text from your own phone too. Sometimes texts can get blocked up and sending yourself a message will make all your missing messages appear at the same time.
If you are on one of the phone companies that piggybacks on EE, some of them don't support shortcode messaging and you may not be able to receive these kinds of text messages. Does that sound like you could be affected?
