• QLED vs OLED 4K Televisions

  When it comes to modern 4K HD televisions, the two most common technologies are OLED (Organic light-emitting diode) and QLED (Quantum-dot light-emitting diode). Ultimately both give you an incredible experience when compared to older 1080p models but they do differ slightly in their performance. OLED TVs usually possess deeper black levels, use less power, and provide better viewing angles, whereas QLED TVs have a lower price range, higher brightness levels and a longer lifespan.

• Refresh Rate

  The refresh rate is how many times your television is able to change the frame per second. The most common frame rate for a 4K television is 60Hz meaning that the frame will reset 60 times per second. The faster the frame rate the smoother your picture is overall. Currently, Samsung QLED TVs are among the industry leaders often with television models that boast a frame rate of 100Hz.

• HDR

  HDR or high-dynamic-range usually comes attached to a 4K TV. What HDR does is allow for the television to produce a much brighter image with a higher level of contrast when compared to non-HDR units. It allows the light and dark sections of the screen to be much clearer and provides the TV with a much greater range of colours.

• Connections

  Most modern televisions, 4K included, come with several ways to connect and play media. The most common way to connect is through HDMI ports located on the back or sides of the units. Often, there are 3 to 4 of these as well as multiple USB connection ports and often a microSD plug in as well. Bluetooth connect-ability is also common with some TV models even boasting built-in Chromecast functionality.
