I have the smoked version and im very happy with it. I play handheld mode 99 per cent of the time and its made a world of difference, can play for alot longer without my wrists playing up and cramping up

I got the green one a while ago and paid double this but have no regrets at all. It is essential when travelling with a 4 year old that doesn't know the value of a switch!. Like previous posts have said, the only downside is that you can't dock it but it's not a big deal to remove it. Do yourself a favour and get the screen protector from the same brand too.

I wonder if there is actually much tangible difference in comfort playing the switch as it is vs in one of these?

It can be a tight fit to get the Switch out of the case. Just carefully not to push it out too hard on the controller or you could damage it.

Can you dock it with the case on?

You can't dock with the case on.

Been using one of these for about a year now and I love it. I really hated the flat back of the Switch, so I bought this after a couple days of having the Switch and never went back. Perfect for people like myself who only play in handheld, but it's very easy to take off if you do want to dock it.

I ordered one of these first.. the corner protection near shoulder buttons make them kind of awkward to use. So I ordered this mumba heavy duty case in black

Few months later I got another switch, by that time others have started copying the design. So I found this PAKESI one which you can slide the joycons out of, comes with free grips and screen protector and for £11.99 delivered in black..

Of course I ordered the one in red and my son loves it. Hes dropped the switch many times and it's still working.

These sorts of grip make a night and day difference with the Switch.

The Switch is non-ergonomic, it isn't shaped to human hands at all. After an hour or so of play I develop cramp like pain in my thumbs and wrists. Even without cramp it's a crapshoot to decide exactly where to rest your fingers.

These grips make it like holding a videogame controller. However i've yet to find a grip I am 100% happy with as although they make the Switch more comfy none of them have the build quality of an actual device.

For me, there is a huge difference. I cannot hold the Switch for any extended amount of time without the grip.

Had this but returned as the shoulder buttons were hard to push in this case

Received - Wow. Really does feel tons more comfortable than before! My previous case had little grips already and this feels a lot nicer in hand, So must feel great if you never used a case at all. Awesome smokey clear grey colour too, matches my custom Switch/Joycons perfectly which are also smokey clear grey! Very pleased with the product. Also I never play docked so shouldn’t be an issue. Infact, I swapped the docks components into a much smaller less restricted housing (The amount of wasted plastic and unused space on the official housing is astonishing!), So im good.

Update - Also fits snugly inside my storage case which is basically this one

I can vouch, had one for a while, definitely makes the console way more ergonomic. Heat added.

Perfect, just ordered one, I use a silicone grip case on my xbox controller (for pc gaming) and one on my ps4 controller. (edited)

I’ve got one of these they are an improvement of not having one but if you have big hands they are still not enough.
Need a bigger grip on the back.

I have this grip case and it's so much better than using the Switch without it, it isn't even comparable. I get real bad hand cramp when using it without a grip case.

Fair. I have ordered one as I did consider getting one when I bought the switch, even though I've not suffered any cramping from playing handheld
  27. arCuThEDOWDr's avatar
How much drop protection do you get from this?
  28. WeskerLives's avatar
I got one of these about 3 months ago and it really does make the Switch more tolerable in handheld mode if you have large hands. Although it has one glaring issue for people that swap from handheld to TV mode frequently, because it won't fit in the dock you have to remove it to dock it obviously and this thing clings to the Switch like cement, I actually scratched the finish off the side of my Joy-con trying to get it off once. If you play in handheld mode almost exclusively there's no problem.

I had one very similar as soon as I got my switch. Yes it’s ok to hold while playing. But the fact you had to take it off to place in a case is a no go.

I agree that the Switch is non-ergonomic, so I’m hoping this grip will make gaming in handheld mode much more comfortable. Just ordered one, so let’s see when it arrives next week. For £5.00, you can’t go wrong! Thanks OP - heat added

I paid double for it & it's worth every penny imo. So much more comfortable for an adult. My son takes it off (it's his switch), so obv not as big an issue for kids, but for an adult I'd say its a must buy if you play a lot handheld.

Just buy joycon grip cases if you want to dock it and have chunkier handles.
  39. hamster20's avatar
Is it easy to take off and put back on since I’ll be docking it on and off?

The last one I had was so stiff it felt like I was going to break the switch each time i took it off also the case started becoming flimsy (edited)
  40. danwilliams1980's avatar
It’s a great grip the only issue is it can be tight to get the switch on it. I cut the thin strips off that go around L and R so much easier now especially when you want to remove it to dock the console.
