The deal page is live but loads of games on it aren't even reduced and it's missing a load of games that are in my list!
Added to that, the PS Store Helper extension doesn't seem to be working 100% so it's been a tough job, adding the lowest price info this week - sorry if I've missed any.

There is so much good cheap gaming in that list I just can't get my head round £70 for a new PS5 game at the moment.
Will stick with my PS4 for a while yet I think...
    Thanks as always OP!

Not quite sure why so much is made of that RRP... The RRP of PS4 games is £60 and who ever pays that in this day and age. It's the reason I couldn't ever go digital, there's no wiggle room. Look at Far Cry 6 for example...

That would make sense if those AAA companies were struggling financially, but they're all raking it in, and this price increase is just around increasing profits

A Big In Japan sale, and yet again the Vita’s an afterthought.

I’ve really grown to resent Sony over the past year or so; their customer awareness has nosedived while Microsoft have been great.

I dare say I’ll get a PS5 eventually, but... begrudgingly so.

Companies exist to make money, why should there be this environment of anti-merit that people that make a product and a profit that they should be ashamed of that?

That's not my point. Making money ain't a bad thing, but as with everything, there's a balance and it's down to a company to price their products in a way that won't deter people. But the argument that they need to increase price as games cost more to make is flawed when you realise that game companies are constantly increasing their profits year on year.

There is nothing wrong with them increasing their profits. That’s already happening without the price increase. The gaming industry is becoming bigger and bigger every year.

The problem is when, in spite of this growth, they disadvantage their consumers to get even more profit.

In a previous employment, I was told there were to be no bonuses one year because profits not meeting expectations, this was the first year the company posted a new high of 1 billion in profits. This smacks of the same greed

If you get a pay rise at work, do you altruistically say no and ask the company to divide it equally amongst it's customers?

Companies exist to make money, why should there be this environment of anti-merit that people that make a product and a profit that they should be ashamed of that?

I’d really love some recommendations here. Any bargains / must plays?

The Yakuza games are good - the combat gets a little repetitive but the stories are good.
Persona 5 is a brilliant, huge, stylish game - I highly recommend it but some folk don't like turn-based JRPGs.
The Final Fantasy games are generally well-loved (the older ones are turn-based).
The EDF (Earth Defence Force) games are also well-loved.
The Gravity Rush games are good (demo available).
A lot of folk like Kingdom Hearts (but I hate the core Disney characters).
Ni No Kuni is a beautifully drawn JRPG (with involvement from Studio Ghibli).
Taiko No Tatsujin is a fun rhythm game.
Nier Automata is a mad mash-up of ARPG and shoot-em-up, with a mad story to boot.
There's a few visual novels up there (Steins Gate, Danganronpa, Zero Escape) but they're not my thing.

Tekken, Soulcalibur, Street Fighter & Resident Evil should need no introduction
I'm surprised not to see any Hatsune Miku (rhythm) games up there actually (edited)

Straight line inflation from 2013 to 2020 would put a £60 RRP at £70 now... how is that making more money? the games industry cannot be vilified for keeping up with inflation, they aren't exempt from its impact!

Making money ain't a bad thing, but as with everything, there's a balance and it's down to a company to price their products in a way that won't deter people. But the argument that they need to increase price as games cost more to make is flawed when you realise that game companies are constantly increasing their profits year on year.

What is wrong with a company increasing its profits though? if they have a product that is fairly priced inline (or under) inflation? games are more popular so profits go up

Get Persona 5 Royal, the QoL improvements are well worth it.

If you like JRPGs, Trails of Cold Steel is amazing(although the price on the store is not particularly good), Tales of Berseria for £3.19 is an absolute steal, same goes for Valkyrya Chronicles (the first one is on sale for 6 quid).

I think this is there for two reasons. One to get people who haven't had a PS4 to jump in and get a load of the best games they've missed out on and secondly so people will buy a digital edition who already have these top games on disc.

I have P4G and I plan on getting Earth Defense Force and maybe a racing game. I dont have an FPS for it yet either

The best FPS on the Vita is Killzone.
NFS Most Wanted and Wipeout 2048 are probably the best racers.

Tearaway is fantastic on the Vita (utilises all the hardware and does it very well). LBP, Rayman, Sine Mora, Lumines, Child of Light, DQ Builders, Gravity Rush, Minecraft, Guacamelee, Odin Sphere, FFX / X-2, Ratchet & Clank Trilogy, Sly Trilogy, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Geometry Wars, TxK, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Sound Shapes, God Of War Collection & MGS HD Collection are all very good... and don't forget that there's a huge library of PSP & PS1 games that run on it too

If you like visual novels, you're in luck - there's loads on the Vita... They send me to sleep though (edited)

Thing is, more people are playing games than 25+ years ago. Gaming has gone from a 'nerd culture' thing to something pretty much every household partakes in. The profitability of the videogame industry has skyrocketed without any game price increase, just off the fact that more copies of games are being sold. A price increase is therefore unnecessary and is just driven by greed. They already make more than enough enough money to cover the increase in development cost, and buy a yacht or two for the CEO (edited)

I don't want to come across as pro-price-rise but I understand it...

Simply getting to a November release date this year amid Covid-19 has been a major achievement, chip shortages have pushed their costs up and then MS dropped the £450 price bomb, making it impossible for Sony to price the (slightly less powerful) PS5 for anything higher.
The aggressive pricing has to be recouped somehow... and that's in software sales.
The whole World's anuses are twitching like a rabbit's nose over future employment prospects so software sale volumes will be down.
    What's left? RRP hike (edited)

Totally agree, but PS4 RRP was £60 and you are talking about paying 40-45... If you look at just the deals posted for PS5 games then it's DMC5 £29.95... Lego Star wars £44.99...Watchdogs Legion £46.85... even digital COD is £51.72 it's almost literally no difference. People can vote with their wallet... I for one will rarely (if ever) pay full RRP.
