When I want to be fully immersed in what I'm watching I don't want flashing lights in the background (which aren't always in sync with the picture as well). Also there are DIY light kits so you don't have to compromise. Get a LG/Sony, slap on the light strips and you get the best of both!

Definitely just get an ambilight if you want the lights. I bought an LG 65CX and then bought the sync box with gradient light and regret it massively. Spent an extra £400ish and also lost HDMI 2.1

No as a rule the Phillips is the least refined OLED panel

How so as all the panels are made by LG?

Yes the panels are the same however these Phillips haven't been refined as much. Meaning lower peak brightness and less defined colours and contrast. Panasonic seem to be the best at this currently

I've got this tv on order with Richer Sounds and its due in the next couple of weeks. I rang Spatial this morning who can't promise delivery in the two days quoted on eBay. They said it would be more like 5 or 10 working days.

I also rang Richer Sounds who looked at this deal then matched it and gave me a further £20 for the price match offer. They said they're getting 33 units from Philips and 27 are pre ordered for delivery and if I find it cheaper with a comparable warranty call back and they'll match and beat it again.

So currently on order for £1204 and with a price match promise if it goes cheaper for Black Friday and a six year warranty.

Better off with ambilight built in rather than buy separately if you really want the lights. It's better cost and more optimised as the buying the sync box separately will only process hdmi 2.0

Yes but seems Phillips is subpar to LG/Sony. People buying OLED probably care about quality so would make sense to go with LG.

Yeah for sure, I would stay away from ambilight replicas, just for the lack of comparability with sound systems etc... For the TV each manufacturer seems to fit better for different purposes. For people that mainly watch movies and TV either a Sony or Panasonic (if it's within your budget) would be the better option. For people that also like to game on their tv then the LG is the one to go for.

Each to their own I guess but never had any sync issues with mine, in a dark room watching movies at night I find Ambilight totally enhances the experience for me.

I didn't say it was better, I was showing how it got the same rating so whathifi is not the best source for deciding which is better.

My first oled b7 developed a dead pixel after 18 months right in the middle of the screen. Luckily it was under guarantee and the panel was changed for a new one.

Hopefully my CX stays in good form for years to come.

I'm a bit dubious on the 5-year warranty with this, since I've never heard of this retailer before vs JL or RS who have been around for years.

In theory, if purchased by credit card the CC company should honour the extended warranty if the retailer were to go bust?

That's a shame. Maybe try speaking to someone else. The guy I spoke to said he couldn't refund me now as had have to cancel the sale and rekey it and I'd loose my place in the queue. He said instead, he'll put a note on the account and once the tele has been received, ring back and they'll refund the £95.

I mean ultimately, your able to get the tv for £75 cheaper, I can't see how it matters what website or offer it is. And if they don't match the offer, it's your decision of the sixth year of warranty is worth the extra £75. You could cancel with RS and go with Spatial.

I can find the Samsung qn90a (QLED) at the same price as this oled. Mostly watch TV shows and games when it's dark. Which one of the two would you go for?

Or just spend another £300-400 and go for the C1 or the Sony a90j. Not sure if worth it.
