Costco opticians Vs Specsavers ?

interested to know what people think about the opticians at Costco? I have always walked past it but never really had to use them, getting to that age where I need to get glasses and wondered who would be best to use.

Is Costco opticians better or worse than high street opticians?

I just had a bit of an embarrassing visit to Vision Express - very rude customer services.
I was in the middle of choosing tints and the manager came over to ask about another order. No apology or anything, just interrupted my consultation and asked where an order was. The "sales rep" got up and went to look for it - neither of them acknowledging my presence! Needless to say I walked off. I did get an phone call the next day from the manager of the store offering an apology (I guess it because they lost a sale). Thankfully I have better than 20/20 vision (I wanted so blue tinted VDU glasses), so I'll not need to visit them anytime soon.

Good job walking out. They were terribly rude to you.

My wife told me she had gotten new glasses because she had broken her old ones. She had gone back to Vision Express with them to be told they were unrepairable. Thought no more of it until she was winging about not liking her new glasses and I asked her if she still had the old ones.

Well, 10 minutes later they were fixed - two pairs of pliers and a heat gun - she was really hacked off at me saying I could have saved her £xxx - to which I responded that how can I fix what I don't know is broken until after you have done something..

I told her (as I have on numerous occasions) that I don't rate the local Vision Express due to my experiences with them (just want to sell) - the daft thing is her niece is the assistant manage of a big one 10 miles away but she won't go there on pain of death for some stupid reason of not wanting to bother her!!

Depends what you define as better. Service can vary from store to store. It all depends what you're looking for. A routine sight test would be the same throughout all. What kind of frame/designers are you looking for. Do you wear varifocals?

I have two Specsavers in my neighbourhood - hard selling in one, excellent experience in the other. A lot depends on the store owner.

I think the glasses are better priced at Costco, so will give them a try and can always try somewhere else if not happy.

I have not been back to Specsavers since going to Costco opticians. My experience of Specsavers is not good. When at Specsavers I felt my prescription kept going up each year, where with Costco it didn't for 8 years and actually improved a bit too. The quality of glasses at Specsavers not so good too.
I can't really think of any issues with Costco opticians.

Every time I go, it goes up a tiny bit. I think they just want you buying more glasses
