Can't believe £700 is hot for a apple watch.

I can't believe people still don't get that a deal is hot if it is a competitive price for the product. Otherwise you may as well vote every drink related deal cold because tap water is basically free.

Is this definitely the uk version? If it’s the us one the cellular won’t work here

An interesting YouTube video to watch is unbox therapy where he used it as a phone until it died and lasted over 30 hours, & for the most it did actually replace the phone , good video

I don’t go out much, but for people who don’t work from home, this is a quite nice gadget avoid some of the mobile distractions.

What justifies the £300+ difference between this and the series 7?
    willyvwade's avatar
Well I doubt you're going to find the big S7 Titanium, brand-new with warranty, for £400 anywhere.

Also this has a lot of other stuff (Extra water & dust resistance with diving certification, bigger and brighter screen, louder alert siren, wider range of operating temperatures)

And it comes with one of the more robust straps.

Think I’d rather just stick with my Garmin fenix, with three weeks battery life, for significantly less money.
    N1AK's avatar
You can get a watch with months/years life for £10, which is miles better than the fenix 3 weeks, so unless you're suggesting the Fenix and this product are identical I'm really not sure what point you are making?

Are all the people hating this android users? I mean the watch is a rip off as are the phones and headphones, but that is Apple, you either live with it at your budget or you don’t.  There’s plenty of affordable Apple stuff but there’s the opposite too like this.   I just like the Apple ecosystem and quality.
    greenant's avatar
Whenever there is an Apple announcement the spiteful Android users come out in droves. Don’t see why they wouldn’t visit this site too. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Battery life still not long enough for it to be a proper adventure watch.
I’ll stick to my solar G-Shock at a fraction of the price.

It depends what kind of adventure you have in mind, probably not a good fit for Indiana Jones.

I find these to be pretty ugly in comparison to the normal watch. Each to their own.
    greenant's avatar
In a watch like this it’s function over form. Nice that Apple recognised this.
  24. GordonFreemanLambdaLabs's avatar
This will be obsolete as soon as the one with blood glucose monitor comes out this year. I'll buy when it comes out. Also this can't be used globally.
    Rebus48's avatar
I was also hoping for that feature this year on the ultra as it has been expected for a couple of years. As a T1 insulin dependent diabetic I can’t wait for when the feature is added whether this year or next. I have still bought the Ultra and it’s fab and will probably the next 1 one when it comes out. This is a good deal. As with all in life you get what you pay for.

When did these get so expensive? What justifies the price?
    stakeholder's avatar
    Author
The "ultra" version is similar to the other (200ish) versions of the watch (same software) in terms of functionality. However, it is designed to be more durable and have a longer battery life, making it ideal for use on “adventures” (edited)
  38. RobertWaddell's avatar
It’s the silly ex VAT then including VAT prices they put

How come we have to pay sales tax when we go abroad but then people from abroad don’t have to pay it in Costco here ?
    Makes no sense
    stakeholder's avatar
    Author
People do pay VAT when buying at Costco.
I think the “excluding VAT” is something for companies (resellers).

Anyone had a look in Edinburgh store at all? Might have a go myself to check and get some petrol while Im there
  40. plewis00's avatar
If you are heavily entrenched in Apple's ecosystem then this is a good price for one of the most premium and rugged watches they make. But to anyone else it'll still seem overpriced. The colour and in-store only makes it tough as well.

Others might be tempted by CEX or other preowned retailers for less money.

AliExpress do loads of great clones for a fraction of what these cost….Granted there not the real deal but they look well tidy….(y) (edited)
