Hot. Giff Gaff have had some well priced refurbs via ebay for months now. Hot UK wouldn't allow them to be posted due to limited ebay feedback. Glad to see they're allowing it now!

Regarding condition of their handsets... I purchased the Xperia 5 ii in 'good' condition a few months back. It was immaculate, like a brand new phone. When I entered the imei number in to the Sony warranty checker, it showed a 24 month warranty. If anyone buys a Sony handset, it's worth checking on the Sony site to see what the warranty is.

Give it a check over... I ordered on the previous deal and grabbed this one to compare. Although both are pristine, the one that came today has the green tint on the screen and is noticeably warmer. Might not be a deal breaker if you haven't got anything to compare it to.

Edit: Camera is more blurry as well (edited)

Had one of these from previous Mr Switch deal, myself and others reported "good" condition phones were in fact pristine. If you find it not up to standard their returns are great and just try another until you're happy

My "Good" arrived today. It's in pristine condition but has really, really bad green tint. Gonna have to send it back I think.

Hot. This is proper cheap for the specs. I guess it's because the Sony's seem to struggle in the mass market as the cameras tend to have reputation for only being really good in pro mode.....I'm not so sure. I like the auto photos. Tend to be quite realistic to what's actually in front of you to me. Matter of taste as usual though I guess. (edited)

I had the Mk II variant of this and totally bought into the hype surrounding the cameras and was hugely underwhelmed by them in real world use, to the point I sold it and moved on. You can get great shots out of it if you go into Pro mode and make sure your subjects are just right and ISO is bang on etc, but to me, it defeated the object of a mobile phone camera and probably gives some indication as to why Apple, Google and a few others are streets ahead, in the sense that their lenses and software can capture a terrific picture with one tap.

I'm annoyed with myself now that I ever envisaged a world where someone would buy a £1,000 phone to use ostensibly as a potential dSLR replacement (which is very much what the MKII hype, reviews and marketing were nudging users towards) and not just buy a brilliant dSLR and a half decent mobile for the same money.

Ridiculous price. I just got my "good" condition one on the £400 deal before this and it's pristine in every way.
So far the phone is cracking. Hasn't heated up, the charging isn't the quickest but moderate/heavy use today has got me with 57% battery left at the end of the day.
Camera takes a bit of getting used to but I've done a bit of photography in the past and with basic knowledge you can get some amazing photos.
Was never worth the £1500 release price but you get a lot of phone for £350.
The screen is also very good with one of the highest resolutions available.

You seem to have the experience that others have, the camera is very good but not so much on Auto and only if you know how to operate the advanced modes (which it seems like you do). Everything else about the phone seems great, and while it does get warm, I've never had 'so hot I will drop it' that some complain about. It's also a great media device with that memory card slot, ultrawide display and headphone jack.

I think Sony should have released it around £800 when new, £1.5k was just stupid territory and only Apple and Samsung seem to get away with that. It's also nice having a different phone and also a flat display is so underrated, I hate curved panels, they are hard to protect and easy to scratch/smash.

The screen ratio 21:9 is unique to these Sony phones, makes for a much slimmer phone width wise at the expense of being taller. I do like the format though, having a totally flat screen is also fantastic, you don't realise until you use a curved edge screen just what a user experience disaster it is. My last Sony was the Xperia XZ and whilst that was better than my Samsung S6 the Pixel 2 I replaced it with was much better. Anyway I don't think I will get the feature set I want from Sony.

    1. This would be at least 65W charging, better photo processing so an Auto mode that is competitive but still coupled with their excellent manual options.
    2. Better update schedule, needs 3 major Android versions and 4 years of security updates minimum.
    3. UFS 4.0 storage.
    4. Improved camera sensors Triple 12MP doesn't cut it anymore. Needs the latest and largest camera sensors.
    5. Stop with the absolutely ludicrous pricing.

However even if Sony do make all those suggested changes the only thing that makes them stand out is the camera options flexibility (you can get somewhere close if you use Open Camera from the Play Store on other phones) and the form factor 21:9 totally flat screen. They aren't even bothering to make flip or fold based designs although I'm not convinced I would need those form factors yet.

Incredibly good deal this, I had the phone for a while, it does heat very quickly even after all the updates and I don't think that will change so be aware people, with a case on and in normal usage not an issue, but I imagine it might be with heavy games etc. Camera for point and shoot isn't great, but it's not what this phone is about it's got insane manual controls and if you take the time you can get unrivalled results. Screen is fab, software fine, design lovely, sound though the 3.5mm is brilliant, battery is ok. For the money, wow.

    Alright guys. Finally it happened!😞
Yesterday I was listening to music in Spotify, and fallen asleep with that. No other apps running. I woke up 2 hours late. Noticed phone overheated to the extent that it's too hot to touch. It puzzled me as even when I initially set up it never over heated. This is the first time it happened to me.
I turned the phone off to let it cool down.
About 20 minutes later when phone was ice cool, I turned it on back and battery was about 54%.
Checked the battery settings what happened. The only battery drain seen is from Spotify 3% and phone idle 5%.
    And then suddenly this happened.
Phone screen suddenly turned off. Pressing power button with no effect except led notification blinks green once and red twice in cycles. It looks like some kind of code?
Checking online it's a problem associated with Xpera phones from back in the days onwards( I presume it's fairly rare).
As per online suggestion tried few troubleshooting methods.
I pressed the power button until I feel a vibration once then three times. Apparently vibrating three times means the phone is powering off. Then I tried to powe it on back no luck.
In a Sony site they have explained to hold volume up button along with power button for consecutive 2 minutes, to force restart the device. Still no screen.
I put it on a fast charger( 65w Samsung).
    Still no response.
Asthma Sony website advice I installed Xperia companion application.
When connected with Xperia companion app the phone recognised and gave the options for software repair. This will delete everything on my phone phone and I didn't care that time.
Xperia repair of the software took about 2 hours. And then the app said you can restart the phone after disconnecting. However then try to restart phone again just vibrates with nothing on the screen. I put it on the charger. Suddenly a screen popped up saying my phone is corrupt and will not boot
I guess it's safe to say the phone is going back. Such a shame, because phone was pristine condition.
I am writing this long experience 21 other users to be watchful.
    Any suggestions welcome.

this phone will overheat if pushed on 4k recording as the chip has hardly any thermal cooling, the updated firmware assists when recording 4k video by switching the 120hz to 60hz to allow the phone and camera to keep working. So if you can live with that it's a mega mega phone for the money.

I've had it for almost a week now. Its definitely not a complete phone and not worth close to it's RRP, however it's certainly a gem for the price...

    Things I do like:
    - The screen itself is really sharp (with creators mode enabled).
    - Feels snappy, no lags in games.
    - Build quality is great. Its taken some use but I like the aspect ratio despite black bars on most content. Fits nicely in the pocket.
    - I've shot 4k in 120fps with no heating or throttling issues.
    - The speakers quality is pretty good, vibration motor is excellent.
    - Fingerprint sensor is well placed on the side and very quick.
    - screen protector was easy to install and sticks down nicely compared to a curved screen.
    - Good battery life for my use.
    - Video capturing is the stand out feature of this phone. That doesn't take a pro to get good content, love it.
    - Not too much bloatware. Feels very stock android.

    What I don't like:
    - Charging speed is not very competitive.
    - The photo shooting auto mode is really poor, there simply are times you need to take a quick one before the moment is lost.

On the fence about the camera in manual mode. I have no knowledge of how to take a good photos with exposure, ISO and white balance settings tweaked so I'm going to try to learn. I like the natural colours (comparing to P6 Pro) but it always lags in sharpness at present (edited)

Purchased this before on one of Mr switch stellar finds. The phone arrived in pristine condition sold as 'good'. I just couldn't get on with it finding the screen too narrow and some mobile games were cropped. But my main concern was that it was constantly overheating all the time and the screen had a green tint to it which was confirmed as a hardware issue. I tried all display configurations to remove it, and that it would randomly turn green. The return process was dead easy and straightforward, so if unsure about the purchase it's worth buying knowing you'll get your money back hassle free. (edited)

Mine just arrived, ordered very good condition. Literally pristine. I've held it against a flashlight and wiped with a microfibre cloth and the display is literally untouched. You could've sold it to be brand new unsealed and i'd be none the wiser. Seems like Sony got a bunch of these returned early on in the release cycle and now giffgaff are offloading stock in anticipation of the Mark 5. Esctatic. Also! I have this. A typical useless Sony phone. (I had xperia 1 II and 5 as well).
Poor selfie camera. Ultra-slow rear camera, takes more than 2 seconds to capture and register a pic. More of Point-wait-shoot! Unacceptable for a Sony. Will be returning it and not planning to buy one again unless something changes. Still a bargain if you dont mind the above. Excellent form factor, display, processor speed and storage.

I also have it and the photos appear instantly, not after 2 seconds, what are you talking about? It is near instant, the only 'slowness' is that changing lenses is not as seamless as on iOS with their smooth zoom. The phone is extremely refined as you would expect being in its 4th generation which is also an outstanding price for a current model flagship.
