It's worth upgrading from 3600 and paired with 1080 GTX?

no you'd be gpu bottlenecked all the time.
load task manager. go to your fave game. play it. alt tab and check task manager
if your GPU is 100% then a faster cpu will make no difference
if one of your CPU cores is 100% and GPU <100% Then it would (edited)

Might fall a bit more once the 7800X3D comes out in 5 days I think it is? Still a cracking price though!

    7800X3D isn't out until April.

7950x3D and 7900x3D are next week.

Just can't decide whether to side grade to one of these from the 5800x (non 3d) or upgrade the entire platform the boost from extra L3 cache looks amazing although I could really use the extra ipc from ryzen 7000 as I do quite a bit of emulation, just don't wanna pay the cost of the newer platform motherboard price's are outrageous for anything decent on AM5.

I'd look into games you play and if the extra vcache helps and go from there. Like, if you play MMO's and multiplayer games that scale well with it.. then it might be worth looking into.

Otherwise you'd be spending close to two hundred after reselling your current CPU on minimal gains that could've gone towards a newer, more futureproofed platform (AM5) and or a new/better graphics card. (edited)

    Cold

    old am4

    old ddr4

old 8 cores when 12+ cores can be found on new 12th and 13th gen intel platforms

will be left behind in future windows updates like old ryzens and old intels have been left behind

Terrible advice. The 5800X3D in gaming goes toe to toe with a i9-13900 and AMD’s own 7000 series processors.

Love the cpu, runs but my 3070ti bottlenecks it a ton on 2k. Maybe gpu upgrade time

The GPU should be the bottleneck in your system... (edited)

6600K is almost as good as this and about £200 cheaper

"Almost"? Really? Lol! At least the 13600k above was a reasonable alternative - the 6600k isn't in the same league... Don't spout such nonsense without justification.

You can login to any countries Amazon webpage using the same account. I used my UK account for German, Italy, US, France and Spain.

    Is this a good upgrade for a 3600 paired with a 3070?

Escape from tarkov is one game I'd like to get improvements on and that's a CPU intensive game apparently (edited)

Go to youtube and put the name of the CPU + GPU + benchmark, you should see example performance gains.

This one uses 6700xt which is not too far off 3070. You will get noticeable gains but you may get similar experience with upgrading to something like 5600x which is far cheaper. (edited)

    🔥

If you're doing a fresh build, go AM5 though. (edited)

Or LGA 1700, AM5 is rumoured to have a shorter lifecycle than AM4 this time around.

AM4 lasting as long as it did was due to market pressure. Just look at Threadripper 3000 series. (edited)

My GA-AX370-Gaming 5 supports all the 5000 series chips, so I'd imagine insane improvement if I were to swap my 1800X for this...pretty epic it's possible really!
