Buy this and then sell it to yourself for £300, easy win.

Yeah, the price really does bounce around a lot. I've been staring at this CPU for ages, and I just decided to stop waiting - I guess I just got lucky.

Just wait and see, now that I've bought it, it'll be £250 next week (edited)

Which cooler and mother board are you using with this CPU?

    I'll buy this when it's £150

Be sure to get a meaty CPU cooler, you'll need it.

I recommend the Thermalright PA 120 SE or the PS 120 SE, best value high end CPU coolers out there.

Brilliant cpu. Running a bit hot though

Certainly will do in heatwaves like we've just had.
What cooler are you using and have you played around with undervolting/curve optimiser? (edited)

It was enough of a discount for me to pull the trigger. Just under £258 with a fee-free card.

It was just £6 more on Amazon UK last week.
    Beorg's avatar
That was by third-party sellers and over £10 more if you use a fee-free card.

No, I bought it for £269 last week - sold and shipped by Amazon

Ah probably didn't last long at that price if it didn't show on Keepa, nice find. Unfortunately it's now £284 from Amazon.. (edited)

Wonder how much the 5600X3D will be when it finally graces us with its presence. Will probably perform the same as this for 99% of games.

It could be a budget beast, which will breathe more life into the ageing AM4 platform. I might get one for my B450 board and sell my 5600G.

Maybe if you are building new PC. Consisting new 5800x sells for £180 and used around £150. I’ll rather put that saved £100 into faster GPU.
    inzm_94's avatar
if this is out of budget i'd say go for a 5600x since it's basically the same as a 5700/5800 for gaming and comes with a cooler? the x3d is significantly better hence the price. this is really just an upgrade for people already on am4 with something like a zen2 cpu who don't want to commit to a new mobo/ram. otherwise you would probably go for a 7600x/b650/ddr5 ram for a similar total cost and then have a much longer upgrade path

FYI - update for the community here, if you've not seen it yet....

AMD announce 5600X3D for $229 - about £180 - but possibly only in USA only??
