24cm Mattress Depth
MEDIUM Support
Each pocket spring is precision engineered and wrapped individually in it's own soft cloth sleeve, which holds it at the optimum tension and allows the spring to move independently. The Pocket springs are held under tension for responsive support. The independent action of each spring creates a personal sleeping zone while moulding more effectively to your individual body shape.
This mattress is designed to offer comfort and support for all shapes and sizes by providing extra support where your body needs it most
This mattress is constructed with reinforced springs and a firm rod edge ensuring the springs don't wobble, collapse or bulge, they give you support across the whole surface of your mattress. This means you can sleep comfortably right to the edge without rolling off - reclaiming space lost in an ordinary mattress.
No roll together creates individual sleep zones for less partner disturbance. So if you or your partner move or roll over there will be little or no effect on the other person ensuring you won't disturb each other and you won't roll together.

sorted by> First, and most importantly is that feel, ie firmness is subjective, we can make suggestions as to the firmness rating of a mattress, however in truth it is all down to the individual, what is medium to me, may be firm to someone else, and soft to person number three. It is human nature to hunt down deals, however when it comes to something like a mattress you really do need to try in store – even if you then go away and try to find that mattress cheaper online
> In all likelihood this is a cheap price for this product, as the Sleep Shop are market disruptors, selling well below the RRP and making minimal margin on their cost price from the manufacturers, it can work, you can get high volume at low margin, but then of course all of the other small independent bed specialists begin to struggle as they are unable to match these prices
> The reason you can feel the springs at the side can be down to the quality and price point of the mattress, some mattresses have butterfly springs at the side to offer side support and stop the roll off sensation, or better still the units would be incapsulated in a foam or polyester encapsulation to offer greater side support. At this price point it is unlikely this mattress has either
> It is not the case that “all the budget 1000 pocket springs double mattress” are the same mattress in different covers.Every one of our mattresses is made to its own individual specification, spring count is only one piece of the puzzle, the overall feel of the mattress has many contributing factors, from spring count, to internal materials, even as far as the stitching quilt pattern on the top tick (the surface you sleep on)
> A depth of 24cm does not make a mattress good, in all likelihood it probably means the mattress contains very little other than springs, by way of comparison 28cm entry level depth is a good guide, but the better the mattress the deeper the mattress, with some as deep as 36cm or more
> John Ryan by Design – not a company with any kind of name within the industry, go for a name you have heard of or a name you see when in Dreams, DFS or any other big bed retailer, also worth checking for Which awards, I know there is a new round due out in the coming weeks. I could recommend a number of our mattresses however I feel that people use this site for unbiased opinions and advice so that is what I am attempting to give here
> Sleep and Snooze is a trading name of Dreams, this mattress is very unlikely to ever have sold at £599, it will simply be that £599 is an unrealistic RRP provided by the manufacturers – also the fact that a good mattress should last 8-10 years and this only has a 1 year warranty, my view is stay clear
Hopefully this will help a little bit
"Ortho" - this is a tricky one, there is no industry legal definition of ortho, generally consumers believe the word ortho means the mattress will cure all back ailments in an instant, but what you will find they actually want when they ask for "ortho" is just something firm to offer back support.
What I would say is generally, not always, but generally with mattresses you will get what you pay for, if it sounds cheap then more often than not it will be. I would point out that you spend 1/3 of your life sleeping so it is always worth investing and I would always look for a mattress with a 5 - 10 year guarantee as then you know the manufacturer believes in their own quality.
I was scared off paying a lot more for a better quality mattress because of online reviews. Even the most expensive ones seem to have polarised views. I guess some people just aren't choosing the correct mattress for their weight,/shape/sleeping position?. I went into Dreams a few weeks back for a browse. They put me on a Sleepmatch machine that suggested I needed medium-firm. This surprised me as I guessed at medium-soft as I often sleep on my side, but I reckon it was right. It then suggested 3 mattresses for me, the cheapest of which was £1700 - I don't think so. I decided to buy a medium, half way between what I thought and what the machine said
Anyway, you can feel the springs through the side of the mattress which is off-putting, but I'm actually happy with it. Quite comfy. Would have been even happier if I got it for this price. (edited)
We went and tried a few and it certainly felt that way. We were buying for a 8 year old so went for one we found for £250 so this seems a good price. Had loads of bad experiences with boxed mattresses so the fact this comes as it is is a big plus.
Any really really good deal?
Not sure where to start
And what bed I need.
Just need a basic bed that's all (edited)
