Great set, bought it last year at £419.99 from costco.co.uk - but given how much the individual TRVs have gone up I'd say this is still a stonking deal for the starter set.

Appreciate the comment. Toying with this and Nest as dont really need to isolate areas in home much.

Tado is good system however the TRV temperature accuracy is very poor for me I have had to buy a wall thermostat for each room very expensive solution but does work well.

you can correct the temp in the app - I assume you are saying you want to heat to 18 degrees and the room stops heating but still feels cold? You would then just correct the temp down a few degrees.
To be honest, I have an additional thermostat in our lounge and it does seem more realistic if you have the additional sensor (likley because you can mount it up on a wall, which will take some time for heat to reach) but in other smaller rooms its not really an issue - you just learn how your rooms responds and what temp in the app feels comfortable (regardless of what it says)

Has tado sorted the problem that occurs when your broadband goes down? Long time since I've looked. Hope so because this is a good price. And do the trv's work ok with rechargeable batteries? I know some systems don't, which is daft TBH.

We have Evohome and it's been faultless for almost 9 years and looking for a system for the MIL to help control her crazy gas consumption but prices have gone through the roof and that's if you can actually find them in stock. (edited)

Rechargeable batteries are now fine - as long as you have Panasonic Eneloops or the same size (lots of rechargeables are wider than disposable and don't fit).

If broadband goes down I believe the default behaviour is to turn your heating/hot water on until internet restored (TRVs can still be manually operated). Probably the better safe-default than everything turning off.

Been using Tado with 7 of these TRVs for a few months and really impressed. Price wise this is a great deal, £20 cheaper than I paid all in, even after I waited to get deals on the parts separately. This works out to be £50 per TRV and then £80 for the 'srarter kit'.

You may need a plumber to replace older radiator valves that aren't compatible, or ones that have stuck in an open position. The support pages will tell you whether your valves are compatible and what adapters you need (included in box)

Being able to have a cozy living room whilst the rest of the house isn't being heated is great, and the convenience of setting up routines bespoke to each room is excellent.

Expired? Coming as £520 for me?

I’d tell you to consider Netatmo but it’s not competitive vs this.

I got the same system for the same price buying individually over the past few months, but this is less hassle and the best price currently.
I've just installed this system and it's had a few wobbles.
TVR batteries don't last very long, certainly not the ones that came with them.
As others, TRV is quite a bit out on temperature, so have had to compensate accordingly.
Overall I do feel it has gave me more control and certainly saved me money on rooms that were too warm or didn't need heating every time the heating came on.
On the short time I've had it, I'd recommend it.

We found some batteries in the TRVs last ages, and one in particular doesn't 🤷‍♂️. So I decided to get rechargeable Duracells and always have 2 available to swap over when needed.

Don’t bother if you have a relatively large property. TADO do not offer a range extender from the bridge which connects to your home router and the radiators not in range constantly disconnected for me making the system useless. I would only recommend these for a small property of apartment.
    Russell_Jemmett's avatar
You need to strategically place the bridge. I had to change its location on the first floor to make it reach the loft conversion and it now works fine. There's probably a limit of about 6m I would say (through walls and floors) so place the bridge wisely.

How easy are these to fit and does it need a plumber? TIA.

The TRVs are easy, the connection to the boiler on the other hand is where I got an electrician in. Wasn't overly clear which setting at first then the app took a while to understand why it wasn't syncing.
You will need to be present on commissioning as the app controls everything.

So if every rad can be controlled separately, then how does the thermostat work? Is it that it overrides everything, for example, if the thermostat is set in the hallway at 20 degrees and the radiator TRV in a separate room is set at 21, then the room trv will only come on AFTER the hallway temp is at 20 or below?
    A57ton's avatar
You’re thinking too deep. They all have the ability to control the boiler. You need a valve in the same room as the thermostat.

I am looking for this kit for 8 rads and its on 2 floor levels. and hence trying to see if one thermostat will do the job or will I need multiple thermostats. And the only part I cant get my head around is that if all rads will have TRVs, and they call for heat, then what exactly is the purpose of the thermostat other than to show visually what the temperature of that area (where the stat is placed) is
    A1p5's avatar
In my house, I have 2 rooms that are always cold and so previously had to have ALL the rads on to heat these 2 rooms properly. Now that I have separate Tado rad valves, once the warmer rooms reach the desired temperature, those rads turn off and save gas being used for those rads. BUT the rads in the colder rooms remain on until they also reach the desired temperature.

I want to install in a four bed semi used for air band b where only some of the rooms will be used and the property empty for part of the week. Since it is a significant investment is this a good option?
    wilt's avatar
Personally I'd stick with ordinary thermostatic valves. These may get stolen, need batteries replaced, lose sync with the WiFi and can cause more hassle dealing with clients.

Is this the cheapest it gets.

I think I’d prefer this over the others for HomeKit integration but with winter nearly over I’m thinking to bide my time

Been using Tado for years. On HomeKit too. This is a great deal.
