Having missed out on the Costco deal for the older 1660ti version I'm quite happy with the price paid for this one, late 2021 model, 3060 gpu access to dlss etc.

Spec sheet is here

Only 15 inch though, depends if you are after the nice big 17 inch screen size, also I believe this MSI has a smaller battery and doesn’t last as long. An 8gb stick of ram is no more than £20 and an easy upgrade on the Lenovo so then it just comes down to weather the processor differences are worth it or not

Hi guys, I have tried to surmise some of the latest deals all in one place. These are all running the 3060 graphics card.

If I am not bothered about screen size could anyone say if there is a standout winner? Or is it all much of a muchness? I am tempted to go for the medion erazor but I know nothing about laptops let alone the medion brand

The tricky thing is that not all 3060 cards are comparable. Lenovo Legion are almost always full fat, but a lot of other manufacturers are quite a bit lower in TGP.

Generally speaking, the higher TGP laptops will be a better option in my opinion. If you're plugging in an external screen, doubly so - go for the best TGP and CPU combo 🏻

Note it's a 300nit 144hz screen as well apparently so I think it's a reasonable deal compared to the 15" Legion that wasn't as bright and only 120hz
    A57ton's avatar
The 15” model has at least 3 screens, but you’re right about the 120Hz being the poor option.

I found the Lenovo legion 5 for £699 on amazon. Is that a good deal?
    bobbymoz88's avatar
The Amazon deal is the same spec as what Costco had a few days ago for £500 and all stock was gone in the hour. They have been popping up on ebay and amazon now for more money.
The deal that Foley has spotted is more expensive but the graphics card is superior and think the Intel processor is slightly better too.

Never had a gaming laptop before, do you recommend getting any of the extended warranty options with Lenovo?
    MeneerSmith's avatar
Would recommend getting the warranty but check the laptop box and the site as the price of the in box paper offer is often cheaper than the site.

The other point on warranty is that it is a lot cheaper to get it from lenovo than retailers, think mine was under a £100 total to up it to four years from lenovo compared to the £10+ per month you see on some retailers sites.

Damn bought the Costco Lenovo laptop. Should have waited!

If ONLY we knew what was round the corner eh we'd NEVER buy anything ever again

You were obviously happy with the deal you got, take heart in that.

Amazing that people are so oblivious to the poor quality of the display, the cooling, the limited TGP of the graphics card, and yet they still recommend MSI Katana over Legion

This is this one's exact spec sheet. I can confirm it has the 80watt battery so for the price of another stick of 8gb of ram and I think this will last you a while!

You’d get £17 back from airtime rewards as well for buying this from Argos. That would be two months free phone bill for me lol

I suppose the 17in screen is a bonus if you want that - ie: for gaming, but personally I prefer the 16:10 screen on their 16in screen.

Recieved mine today, installed another stick of 8gb RAM and a 2TB NVME drive, all the updates are installing now, if anyone has any questions shout up, initial impressions are great, its a lovely machine, the quick access to the power modes for when you are gaming or just browsing the web are super useful for maximising battery life

    1) How much did the extra storage and RAM cost?
    2) How big is the adapter?

screen is 300 nits, hate the 8gb ram, should be upgradable- this isn't apple, afterall
so not an gonna do wonders outdoors but otherwise great laptop
this + dual booted manjaro will be good for 5+ years
    markyo007's avatar
What do you mean? The RAM is upgradable and can be expanded.
