West Midlands Trains have a free single or return ticket (one available per account) for travel on trains within West Midlands zones 1 - 5, from Monday 20/3/2023 - Friday 24/3/2023. This offer is available to book from Monday 13/3/2023. The name of the promotion is 'Train It Chooseday' and you need to enter the promotion code CHOOSEDAY on the app or their website to get the offer. There will be 10,000 tickets available anywhere between Zones 1 - 5 on West Midlands Trains or any other operators such as Avanti as long as travel is within those zones.

  • The Train it Chooseday promotion covers journeys between any two stations within the West Midlands Railway’s zonal areas (1-5).
  • The Train it Chooseday promotional code can be used on adult and child Anytime train tickets.
  • The Train it Chooseday code can only be redeemed once per account.
  • The Train it Chooseday promotion is available for travel between Monday 20 March – Friday 24 March 2023.
  • You can buy your ticket using the code CHOOSEDAY in advance from Monday 13 March 2023 until Friday 24 March 2023.
  • Train it Chooseday promotional codes are limited to 10,000 tickets for on sale dates between Monday 13 March – Friday 24 March 2023 and are on a first come, first served basis.
  • The Train it Chooseday promotion is only available for use on West Midlands Railway’s website and/or app for travel between Monday 20 March – Friday 24 March 2023.
  • The Train it Chooseday promotion is not available at stations, on board, or from station Ticket Vending Machines.
  • To use this offer, you must be travelling on an Anytime Single or Anytime Return ticket between two stations within the West Midlands Railway zonal areas (1-5).
  • The restrictions on this promotion will be the station and route code combinations. The tickets are not limited to only WMR services but are set up to only allow travel between WMR zonal areas using selected route codes. There will be some carriers that travel between these stations using a different route code that will not be available. The promotion cannot be used to purchase tickets that are only valid on other operators’ services.
  • All passengers are required to have a valid ticket for all journeys and may be liable for a Penalty Fare if they cannot produce a valid ticket on request.

    Strike dates this month have already been announced and exclude the promotional dates. Any new strike dates would require 14 days notice which would be after the last date for using the ticket.

    So anywhere on West Midlands Trains on the line between Coventry and Wolverhampton is fine and does of course include Birmingham New Street to either Coventry or Wolverhampton travelling on West Midlands Trains.

    This deal is now live and just to stress your journey, as long as it's within the West Midlands Zones 1 - 5 area, can be made on any train such as Avanti or Cross Country, not just West Midlands Trains. For example, an anytime return ticket between Coventry and Wolverhampton on the direct services of Avanti or Cross Country Trains is bookable.

    Birmingham New Street to Shrewsbury on West Midlands Trains would allow you only to go as far as Wolverhampton on that route under this offer.

    Tomorrow, 13th March is the 1st day you can purchase the ticket and after adding the promotion code it's free. You are of course obtaining the ticket to travel on a date of your choosing between 20th March - 24th March inclusive.

    It's in the promotions and railcard section when adding date/time preferences. Not at checkout.

    If people are travelling where they are leaving or going to somewhere in zones 1-5 but the other is outside, buy two tickets.

    One that covers the journey inside of zones 1-5 for free and then the other that covers the rest and you can still save money using split tickets.

    Anyone else struggling to get this to work. Tried between university and coventry, both within valid zones, and getting a "Code already used" message. Never used it before though. (Maybe 10,000 have been sold?)

    It does indeed look like there are no more new tickets available under this offer and presumably the 10,000 tickets limit has indeed been reached. So, even though the tickets everyone has are of course valid on dates booked until Friday, I will expire the deal to prevent disappointment when trying to book new tickets.

    That route is valid and the website allows me to purchase an anytime day return ticket under the promotion for the dates valid, next Monday to Friday. (edited)

    The promotion is still working for the dates and station zones within the offer with the addition of the promotion code in capital letters.

    Yes, as it's an Anytime ticket there would be no restrictions such as not travelling before 9.30 a.m. that can apply on other tickets such as off peak ones.
