if you are coming in completely cold to hifi seperates a good starting point is £300-£500 for new… you can buy ALOT better 2nd hand / clearance .
Is the Pro-Ject Jukebox E a good starting point looks like I'll just need to add speakers?
Any advice is appreciated 🏽🍻
It was the fragility of the medium which often resulted in noise and the hassle of changing tracks that was its downside.
However, I do miss the artwork and still have the original albums taking up a large amount of room.
Therefore I was a bit surprised by its resurgence and somehow feel I am missing something.
I do still miss ‘owning’ the physical media, you can’t better vinyl and its packaging, I still have a dozen or so of my favourite album sleeves framed and hanging on the wall… pieces of art in their own right. My most cherished two are New Order’s ‘Everything’s Gone Green’ and Joy Division’s ‘Atmosphere/She’s Lost Control’ 12 Singles which I got signed by New Order back in 1984 when they played at a nightclub in Southampton! With a friend, we’d waited outside the stage door when their roadie came out and saw us, me clasping the record sleeves and he asked us me if I wanted to meet the band… er ‘Yes please’!! He took us backstage and the four of them were just sat there chilling out having a drink… Hooky asked me if I wanted those signed and all four duly signed both 12 singles! I forget which of the four said it but when it came to signing the Joy Division sleeve one said ‘good choice’ I was 16 and awe struck in front of my favourite band! I’ve dined out on that story for almost 40 years! So, vinyl has a special place in my heart, I’m glad I never sold any of my collection and I’m enjoying playing it again! (edited)
BTW, I have been buying from Richer Sounds since the 80s and they are one of the few shops I would trust the staff to give helpful (to me) recommendations.
then the total would be 430.
Amp is the strong point, so plenty of upgrade potential (although no phono stage, so needs a turntable with one)
edit …. Time plays tricks with you…. It was actually December

This seem like a great deal, and looking for a turntable
The DP-29F is belt driven, would a direct drive be better, even second hand?
How does it compare to a Audio Technica ?
With regards to the amp and speakers, how does this compare to with my current DM31 with 30w Mission speakers, is this an upgrade?
I'm a big fan of direct drive turntables, but you tend to need to know a bit about them. Belt drive is also absolutely fine.
Also Richer Sounds customer service, particularly instore is amazing.
I got a Denon turntable from there a year or so ago. Encountered a fault which would be covered by the manufacturer's 24 month warranty. Took it into the Liverpool store and a helpful member of staff fixed the issue on the spot, no need to send it away and back home playing lovely vinyl within the hour
Which I think is preferable?
However. He told me it doesn’t come with speaker cable. I don’t want to spend stupid money on some. Can any clever Bod here have a look on RS and direct me to something that will do? No more than £10?
QED 79 has been on my humble system since I bought it in 1990 and as Fluteboy on here suggests ‘it does the job nicely’ at about 2 quid a metre:

The tune played on vinyl : Graceland by The Bible was 1986??!! Oh, I feel old now! (edited)
