Not sure if this is applicable but I got a letter for a price rise, rang in to cancel and managed to get 1gb for £38 a month. All I said was city fibre were offering it for £40 a month.

Yes, it is helpful. People should call - I know bit pain, but it will bring price down for next 18m. Worth the hassle.

Won't they just increase the price when they want regardless of contract terms?

In Hong Kong I was paying £13/m for 1 gig FTTR...I miss that. My PS4 Pro speed test was 898Mbps up and down!

    1 Gig down. 50 up
    Would rather have 300/300.
    Thank god for XGS-PON.

Each to their own I guess.
10mb up is more than enough for average family unless you job relies on that or have several specialised hobbies that require more. And even then rarely uploads will have a direct immediate impact (stagger) unless you have a house full off many influences streaming constantly.

I prefer movies, and specifically games to download in minutes rather that hours, and not impact others in house watching 4k streams ect. (edited)

worst is sales teams from India who call you for deals , they get very angry and offensive when you don't take up the deals. They are very intimidating and tend to re-calling you asking why why why why. I have blocked loads on the iPhone and they just use random numbers to call back on.
