I might be wrong but I don't think phones are allowed to support that in Europe. so it's taken out of the software

Yep, Google banned it, and banned all apps on the store that allowd it as a privacy issue a while back.

Got to ask, why do you need 5g? I have it and notice zero difference so interested to know why people need it.

I would wait for the Xiaomi flash sale which usually happens in March/April for a couple of hours. I managed to get the Redmi Note 9 for £50 a year or so back. I think it will be the Redmi note 11 this year... fingers crossed.

Oh, at first I read "redmi 9". No, the Redmi 10 has a worse camera than the Redmi Note 9. (edited)

Had so many little issues with my Redmi Note 10, would avoid Xiaomi from now on. The Google discover kept failing and had to reset it daily, same with the keyboard and android auto didn't work

Why is there so much more heat on this versus the Oppo A76?

    Badly need a new phone.

My OnePlus 8 Pro (12+256GB) has had screen+rear glass damage for ages...as of the weekend, it's unusable as the bottom half goes a couple of seconds after unlocking. Screen/frame replacement cost is north of £350 (damn curved edges!). No chance of spending that on it.

Have set a max budget of £150 (incl Cresee case).

Was gonna pull the trigger on a Realme 9 5G (4*+128G) from Amazon Warehouse Germany for about £140 but spotted the spring sale was coming . *May have been 6...

Been impressed with my mum's Realme 8 (5G, 6+64GB) and my sister's Redmi Note 10S (4G, 6+64GB) seems to be serving her well (minus the ads... which TIL is bloatware not down to her use!!). They both came in at £150 each Xmas 2021!

What would you recommend between the current offers? (are Realme's better phones?)

Need something to tie me over for the next few months (at least) without feeling like too much of a downgrade from the OP.

    nigelbutler
Think your budget needs to be pushed to £180-200 nowadays .... 6/8gb will get you Oppo Reno 7/8 lite

Otherwise you'll be downgrading at £150 or less.

Yes motherboard has two vacant slots you can upgrade ram upto 64gb. Hard drive also upgradable

Kinda feel that Xiaomi are gradually losing their appeal for constantly churning out phones with a numbering system too that at times doesn't make sense.

Not only that, but they release newer versions for their existing lines with worse specs. E.g. I was going to replace my goddaughter's Redmi Note 9 with the latest version and I was surprised to see that I had to get the previous gen Note 10 pro, as the newer Note 11 Pro is a downgrade - from a Snapdragon they went to a slower Mediatek CPU and a worse macro camera.

This one is worse in every way.

The main issue I had with the Redmi 10 2022 is the screen, it's very dim and washed out. At £100 I guess it's not awful though.

I've got the note 8t, I'm very happy with it, but the memory is nearly full and it's a pain you have to manually move media to the SD card and you can't move apps across.

I have a pixel 6 work phone, last 6 months. Used to have a Samsung, think S8 which was very innesective. Is this similar ? Pixel can go in the bin. Bought a budget Xiaomi as a Xmas present for my brother, must have been 3 years ago, another famous switchy deal (Thank You) still going strong n camera was awesome.

Yes! Why would you doubt it could? 4GB of RAM isn't immense but it's totally workable if you're not trying to multitask too heavily on the device and don't have a ton of background processes going

Can anyone share info on de-crapifying the bloatware on the phone?

e.g. out of the blue, an app called 'Garbage' (I think) popped up and offered to clear away my temp files (good), then immediately launched into a demo of game that had ads attached (bad) - so it would be great if I could make stuff like this go away

iPhone 13 or 14 if you want iOS. Pixel 6a or Samsung s23 if you want an android.

I have the iPhone 12 and pixel 6a. Really impressed with the 6a battery, screen and performance are good. Camera exceptional. IPhone 12 has lasted me over 2 years and has been really good battery wise and just works well. Still feels new as iPhone designs don’t dramatically change. Only issue I had was pictures taking up space and struggling to offload them (had to buy iCloud to free up space).

Have been running bank apps, credit card apps and other financial apps on my Note 4, now currently on my Note 5, and have loaded them onto my note 10pro (though havent used the pro since buying it). All work ok, no problems, no hacks, no ID theft as far as Im aware.

Phone looks great but I can’t get my golf booking apps on it, says not compatible. Not ideal. Anything I can do about this? Very strange as it’s a worldwide app. BRS Golf

I think it's the app at fault if you look at the reviews going back to August.

Well what can I say about the Redmi not 10. I have it and it didn't last 1 year. I had an issue with mobile data and making phone calls. It only worked if I was in spitting distance of a mast. Rang customer service and they seemed to be very good. Shipped my phone to be fixed and within two weeks was back, minus it's screen protector but I'd got a fridge magnet and guess what still didn't work. It only works on WiFi 😔😔
