Buy cheap, buy twice. You will have nothing but frustration with this. I recently bought a cheap squeegee from eBay from a reputable seller because it was the top seller in his range. The squeegee was flimsy and ended up in the bin and I contributed to the "top seller" by buying it.

Stick to a 12" Unger or Ettore squeegee, you'll pay £15 but it will last years.

And 10.5 foot is nowhere near the height for bedroom windows and using a pole at that height takes years of skills. You might find other uses for the pole like painting a ceiling

Hi Mark. Could you recommend something for us to buy please? Looking for a good quality set for doing our own windows at home.

If you want to do home window cleaning well, I’d recommend getting a bottle of Unger Window Cleaning Liquid, it’s about a tenner and it dilutes 100:1 so will literally last forever for one house.

Also - Unger window cleaning gear is good stuff with replaceable blades, you’d be looking to pay about £80-100 for a full set similar to this though.

I found all this out after paying a pro to wash my windows and ending up with scratches on my glass now I DIY.

So will this Argos item scratch windows?

Lots of people are unaware that if they have newer Easy Clean windows they can clean the outside of windows from the inside - see link
If contemplating getting new windows this is something to specify with the installer for little extra cost.

Purchased hope it functions as it should .

No it won't how are you supposed to use the squeegee if its flat to the window. The one I have has an adjustable angle head so yo can tip it to 90 degrees to the windows

Almost embarrassed asking this but what do folk use as the liquid for using this? Just water? Use a bucket? (edited)
    BraddersJ's avatar
A splash of washing up liquid

    Thanks for posting.
B&Q and Amazon ones are more expensive and less than 2metres long. At 3.2 metres this should be long enough for upstairs back windows. Still going to have the window cleaner do the front ones though, as i dont want the neighbours laughing at me dancing with this and calling me a tight sod!!

I wouldn't worry about what neighbours think. My moto is, "what belongs to you is your responsibility, so you personally look after what's yours". If you can't do it then get)pay someone to do it.

Brought. Our windows were only getting cleaned once a year or less when people came knocking on the door. This might help wash them more frequently

Do you mean the windows or the people?

“The Kit aptly fits every household”

I live on the 11th floor of a tower block. Will this kit fit my household?
    terriertom's avatar
If you go up to the 12th floor with a household member and hang upside down while they hold your ankles you should get the job done quite easily and avoid getting soaked which would happen if you worked from the 10th floor.

Might get this as I need a new one. I lean out and do ours, even when I was heavily pregnant I was there on the window ledge lol 🙈

1390 degrees on a naff product that is only available in certain stores.

Why is it naff? It's actually quite well made. Just picked mine up.

Got this a few days ago and used it today. Decent value for money. As others have said at full extension the pole does bend if pressure is put on it but that shouldn't be necessary. It's long enough to reach the tops of my first floor windows (Victorian house). The microfiber head is Velcroed on and can be removed for cleaning. The squeegee's rubber extends further than the metal housing so you won't scratch or gouge anything and the head is slightly angled despite what a earlier comment said. Managed to finally get my upstairs windows clean after the window cleaners ghosted us a couple of years ago (windows were painted shut by a "professional" decorator so can't just lean out).

Does the locking mechanism not get stook?
I had one from Aldi and I couldn't twist the black locking mechanism after a while.

I have this. Great piece of kit for domestic use. Quite sturdy and easy to control. I can reach to the top of my standard two storey windows with this.

Orderd and collected, picked up and used. Great find. Best 8 notes I've spent in along time.
    Does the upstairs windows perfectly

At least this is better than letting the Nottingham Knockers do it. Heat added.

Not that I'm lazy or short of time but I pay a local person to clean windows and impressed with him. At least I'm contributing little back to local economy in this way.
    S555's avatar
My local person charges and arm and a leg to clean the windows. Price 2 years ago was £25 for initial clean and £10 every 4 or 8 weeks. After a few cleans, i asked if it could be extended to every 3 to 4 months. He said no. I cancelled and I'm cleaning my own windows.

I've used an extendable window cleaning pole before but I am interested in perhaps getting a Water Fed Brush system (not too expensive as for my own personal use only) - how heavy is a Water Fed Brush System roughly? Thank you.

I bought one of these before, these are too thin pole when extended so it just bends so dosent put much pressure on the end to clean window. I just tried it onece and is just laying users in my garage. So try yours and may be can return it if not suitable

Is this any good for a conservatory roof?

Is this any good for a conservatory roof? (edited)
    surreyspireite's avatar
I have something similar and the conservatory roof I have is a large lean-to.

On the basis of my similar one, I can't get enough purchase to shift anything that's stuck on - probably because there is no angle.

However, I do suffer from birds throwing the moss from the gutter down on it, and it's good or removing those clumps.
