At just over £1.36 per battery and based upon repeated usage, I felt this was a good deal.

I've often gone for standard AAs previously, but these seem to last far better in old compact cameras and, as my current set are years old and on their way out, these look set to replace them.

rather get Tronic ones from Lidl... or Ladda from IKEA when you're there next time...

Tronic made by Eures are good, others are crap. Ladda same as Tronic. But they won't keep charge for long, so bear that in mind, as if you use them in remote control for example, they will be empty in 9 months. Use Eneloop and they still be good after 36 months. (edited)

*cough* if you want the best and most consistent, buy Eneloop, or rebranded eneloop (Ikea LADDA in AA). Any of these types of batteries that say Manufactured in Japan are Rewrapped eneloops.

Agreed, I spend £50 on these crappy EBL batteries and they're pure junk now, my old Eneloops I got free at the GadgetShow Live are still going strong after 8ish years.

These batteries are crap! had 12 AA and after 14 months of use only 3 are still working fine and takes charge. There are no better rechargeable batteries like Eneloop-they keep charge for long time if not used(or used in low power consuming devices) and most reliable. Still have some of them from year 2011.

May be teaching you to suck eggs but if they won't take a charger use a dumb charger and not a smart one for a few mins to get them started.

I often have it where completely drained batteries won't change in my 7 day shop smart charger. I put them in an old Uniross charger for 5 mins and then back into the 7 day shop one and they come back to life.

I bought a load of EBL batteries a few years ago. They seems OK but I will run some capacity checks on them over the next few days and report back here.

Strange, I've not had a problem with these, been using 8 for a radio at work (4 at a time) and have to swap out about every 3 days,
maybe they work better if in constant use, (approaching 2 years use now)
charging at 500 mAh using a littokala engineer charger, also have noticed that some charge upto 3400 mAh
Have had more energizers fail tho'

I've had these, and although I can't remember the brand name off-hand, the ones Screwfix do are much, much better.
