If you don't rate them, microwave them 10-20 seconds. Same with custard doughnuts. You'll never look back

Might do if I’m being followed

Thanks all. So Asda, M&S, Lidl, Morrisons and Tesco make the best doughnuts
    ELVIS_THE_PELVIS's avatar
Not to dissimilar to the debate about the best curry house

    Lidl's are the best
    Daniel789's avatar
Nope, coop custard doughnuts are the best, fact

I had a bite and struggled to anymore, would not recommend

These are not great, in my opinion. Are the custard ones at the same price?
    Necki's avatar
Nope, I was in-store earlier, the jam and custard ones were £1.10 but these were 55p

    Morrison's make the best donuts
    hardstylemw's avatar
Correct. Although Sainsburys has a better quality custard in their donuts, but I believe they may have changed it recently.
  7. aragon2773's avatar
Good price but they not good, very little filling and it doesn't taste fresh. In my opinion best ones are from Morrisons.

Let's get fat for nothing, raise the price on vegetables and cripple the NHS once again

They are horrific. I got some the other day and regretted it... tiny, chocolate tastes really weird and they don't dust them in sugar at all... even the dough has a weird texture.
    robinson216's avatar
They must have changed them in the past year or two then because my only gripe about them used to be getting the dusted sugar absolutely everywhere, there was always so much! I used to love them until I had a couple of stale/dry batches AFTER they had the cheek to increase the price

Doughnuts followed by Gregg's pastries for lunch and a pizza and some cans for tea. Food fit for a King - that's the way to go

I may be wrong but I don't believe they make their donuts fresh, they're frozen and thawed.
    codebee's avatar
At 11p per doughnut I can’t imagine expecting fresh cooked ones.
  12. MajorD's avatar
These are awful, just a mushy mess.

If I recall correctly Asda doughnuts are pre-made and just defrosted at the store. I don't know if this has an impact but even at 55p these are not worth it. A waste of energy and ingredients.
  13. itchyone's avatar
Donut or Doughnut that is the question.
    davew2011's avatar
Donut even go there, there’s enough bickering doughing on on this thread

..I’m more of a doughnut guy but autocorrect and text laziness does cause me to donut every now and then
  14. ApolloX1's avatar
Nowhere near as good as Tesco, they don’t  seem to sprinkle them in sugar which I find makes a big difference.
    archie41's avatar
They are supposed to put the sugar on in store. Amount depending on sa
  15. eset12345's avatar
Worth a try I guess, the chocolate orange ones at Christmas were ok, prefer custard doughnuts though
  16. RamblingSydRumpo's avatar
Chocolate in doughnuts doesn't work for me. Just looking at the list of ingredients made me sick.
  17. clubuk's avatar
Sainsbury were the best, but they too have dropped in quality
    Neostar's avatar
They dropped massively, before COVID they were quality (edited)
  18. BlakistonsFishOwl's avatar
The Tesco chocolate doughnuts were the absolute best, unfortunately there were discontinued a while back. Check out the reviews on the website though for a good laugh: tesco.com/gro…202

Anyone know which supermarket has the doughnuts most similar to Tesco's chocolates ones?
    Neostar's avatar
Probably no one, the last remaining supermarket that still sells quality doughnuts is M&S

EDIT: I forgot Spar has pretty good doughnuts too but it's hard to find a store nearby without making a small journey (edited)

I like the custard and jam combined ones. Stunning, looks like blood and puss, but tastes yummy
  21. aqibraja_96's avatar
Not related but I’ve been having the custard ones for many years from Asda, 5 for 45p, and they are good. I mean, you can’t complain about the quality at this price, and if you do, you’re a coconut!
  22. mariotakeiteasy's avatar
Not as good as reduced label doughnuts at morrisons. 5 for 5p!
  23. YourWellWisher's avatar
Woww don't count the calories though, diets start tomorrow!! Hehe 😄
  24. Gort1951's avatar
Coronation Donuts 3 for £2 from Morrisons weren't that good though, should have taken them back.
A Dry unfresh afair, Pea sized Jam in the middle, melted watery Icing Sugar and a small sliver of cheap Chocolate on top. Choc. looked like an xmas Tree.

Had better out of Date ones.

I heard that if you go in store and give the code "Homer", you get 50% off.

    worst donuts ever
  27. eset12345's avatar
Just had some delivered, they're fine, sure they're not a custard or jam doughnut, but they taste like any other doughnut, but then asda doughnuts aren't that good, morrisons are much better (edited)
  28. Aldnoah's avatar
LIDL is king, best jam doughnuts.
    Neostar's avatar
Defrosted but decently made doughnuts, unfortunately they also want 59p for each one
  29. stuartc73's avatar
Something cheaper than elsewhere at ASDA? Makes a change.
  30. rbjim's avatar
Do any of the supermarkets make them fresh or are they all defrosted these days? Nothing is sacred anymore.

    Bargain...that's a lot of ingredients for 55p
  32. mcfly666's avatar
Mmm, nothing tells you you're eating good food than fortified ingredients
  33. heatherbrown92's avatar
I've bought Asda doughnuts before that had been relabelled with a better best before date, they could of atleast took off the sticker underneath...
