At least there won't be a queue down into the main road like there always is when I go past the Birmingham one. Dangerous and astonished it's allowed. All for a few pence off compared to Gulf down the road. :/

How has diesel gone from being 20p
more than petrol to 2p less now?
    danc_101's avatar
RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams said:

"Since the Competition and Markets Authority’s made its announcement about supermarkets increasing their margins compared to three years ago and said they will be formally interviewing bosses, it appears the rate at which the price of diesel has fallen has sped up."

    Bunch of crooks.

I bet that has been raised before but Asda probably rejecting planning permission! And might be some legislation around petrol stations so close to a stadium?
  6. john.coote's avatar
Should be cheaper than petrol with the true cost yet again hidden from the buyers
The savings are NOT being passed on
  7. N1Andy's avatar
Bugs the hell out of me that Asda in Sittingbourne is £1.46, but Asda 4 miles down the road at Rainham is only £1.32.......how is 4 miles equivalent to 14p a litre from the same company???
    JasSingh93's avatar
Tell me about it. The two Shell garages near me have an 8p difference in E5 premium petrol and the distance is 2 miles either side of my house! It makes no sense

LOL, the people in this thread who don't know how to write down the price of something.

    Let me help you...

    It's either... £1.349 or 134.9p

    NOT... £1.34.9 or £1:39.4 or £134.9

It only dropped to 132.9 at Bristol today - still showed as 135.9 on the display board though!

It’s worth getting Costco membership just for fuel as they’ve been consistently 10p + a litre cheaper than the Supermarkets.
The supermarkets, particularly Asda, were the main ones driving down price but since they were taken over by brothers who’d made their money on fuel they have now changed tack.

The best thing to do is check a price comparison site like petrolprices.com, go compare or confused.com but yes, if you live fairly near to a Costco it's a no brainer but from what I can see it's "only" a few pennies less than near-by stations but that might be because they're bringing the price down to compete. For example, petrol at Coventry Costco is only 0.8p cheaper than the nearby Morrisons

I will say that Costco is a lot easier to use. It's all pay at the pump so you're not stuck waiting for someone to do half a weeks shopping like you are in some other places. They also have a handy system that tells you where the free pumps are

I should add that they take £120 deposit which caused me issues because I didn't have a card with £120 on it other than my credit card which I try not to use. Had I known I'd have moved some cash over before hand (edited)

Someone I know who owns a fuel station is renewing there contract with their fuel company, they will be paying 50p a litre as a retailer.

    Wtf...
  15. kev.parry's avatar
Supermarket groceries prices to drop as the excuses for throwing 50% on everything was the cost of fuel

Electric Cars eating into fuel sales?
    ToxicHazard's avatar
only 2%-3% of cars are electric so a very small market share for now. I cant imagine this would affect fuel prices too much? (edited)

Why is the BP local to me getting away with prices of £1:47.9 a litre of normal Diesel??? A lot more expensive on a full tank fill up.
    reckoning's avatar
I hope you realise that Costco are squeezing or losing money so they get people in the door.

Yes there's some arguable prices on normal forecourts but Costco prices are usually well below the standard.

My local Costco at Leeds has just announced that they're installing a petrol station. Long overdue tbh! No idea where it's gonna be, the car park is practically full at any given moment.
    jkb114's avatar
it's being built on the site of the old warehouse site to the back of the costco car park (near the delivery yard.)
