I'm not sure where the stock is coming from as Longines still aren't marketing the VHP and it hasn't been listed on their website for months now (or any VHP models for that matter). Oxford street Longines said they were being discontinued and although that was December 2022, it seems to have some truth to it considering there is no mention of VHP even existing on Longines website.

This is the cheapest it's ever been, and I don't think it'll ever be this cheap again!

Yes it's a Quartz, but it's one of the most accurate quartz movements made, accurate to +/- 5 seconds a year, has a perpetual calendar to 2399, it's GMT, and you can adjust the time using flashing light through the little hole in the 12 marker, so no need to manually set the time via the crown, also has an energy saving mode and end of life indicator. Did I mention it's GMT?

Longines Watch Conquest VHP GMT Sport L3.718.4.76.6.

A GMT watch for the sportsman, this remarkable Longines Conquest VHP has been designed especially for avid travellers in mind thanks to its striking red tipped GMT hand and brand new light-driven management system, known as Flash Setting. This incredible innovation is a must-have for vacationers as it allows you to make fast and direct time setting possible without the use of the crown, while providing rigorous precision in displayed time. The Swap function offers another remarkable benefit, allowing the user to change between home time and travel time on the display by simply by applying pressure to the crown, providing even greater reading comfort anywhere in the world.

The remarkable GMT functionality on this Longines Conquest VHP GMT watch is powered by a cutting edge movement: the L287 quartz calibre. This Swiss made movement has an incredibly high degree of accuracy with only +/- 5 seconds a year, a long battery life and a perpetual calendar that extends to the year 2399. The quartz movement also provides central hands for hour, minutes and seconds, a date window at 3 o clock and a handy End of Life indicator. Protecting the movement and assisting in the watch’s water resistance of 50 metres is a 43mm stainless steel case fitted with a sophisticated metal bracelet and a triple safety folding clasp and push-piece opening mechanism for easy wear and optimal comfort. Proving itself as a notable and masculine timepiece worn by sportsmen around the globe, this Longines Conquest VHP GMT watch continues to impress with a striking silver dial decorated in Swiss Superluminova hands and high quality scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass coated in anti-reflective treatment.

Scorching hot - if it wasnt for me buying a 2nd Hand one a few months ago (for £300), I would absolutely go for this.

It's my favourite grab and go watch and the flash setting technology works perfectly everytime using the app.

Awesome watch. If you needed convincing and you want a quartz then get it

Paid £720 in February lovely watch. I can't use the app to flash setting for some reason!

If 43mm fits you this is an excellent price & the lowest these have ever been.
Quietly discontinued by Longines, the VHP might never be resurrected as there is so little interest in them outside of the HAQ fraternity. Let's face it, how many Gen Z+, with phones in their faces all day, even bother to wear a watch these days?
I have two versions; the 36 & 41 & I can forgive the slightly boring case with it's very sharp edges on the inner lugs/crown guards but only because of the truly awesome quartz movement.
The 36 wears perfectly fine as a gents watch on smaller wrist btw. I can't abide wearing a dinner-plate-sized watch I'm afraid.
One word of caution, when you receive your new VHP, take a loupe to closely inspect the hand alignments - the minute hand moves every 10s & one of mine was misaligned by one increment (GPD datum not zeroed correctly at manufacture). The second hand on this watch also randomly hit some markers & not others (characteristic of poor tolerances in the stepper motor geartrain). Fixed under warranty by SGUK & now perfect.
No way for the user to adjust these (unlike the old model VHP) so in the longer term the quartz crystal will age & affect accuracy, but so far mine have been V good & on course for +2.6spy (36mm) & +3.7 spy (41mm).
None of these issues would bother most folk though, so buy one of these now at a superb price.

I bought the white faced one on the rubber strap back in February. It lasted a week before the GMT flash system went AWOL and the hands remained in the Home setting. Longines were baffled, never happened to the best of their knowledge, but returned for a refund.

It is a beautifully made watch, looks gorgeous but sadly for me it was an enormous let down. I think that the technology is just a bit too clever and whilst you cannot argue that the discount off the retail price is very attractive, there is a reason why Longines have dropped this model line and why it is reduced.

If you have one and are delighted with it then I hope that it lasts beyond the 2 year warranty and if it does and it performs to specification, you will have one of the most accurate and best looking watches around.

Every cloud though, my beloved sanctioned a Black Bay GMT to compensate for my obvious dissappointment. (edited)

I hope mine breaks so I can buy a black bay GMT . I want the pepsi one that's discounted at the moment, but £2700 is too steep for me at the mo with a week old baby !

A damn fine watch. I have the black and thought £650 was a great price for it last year. This is awesome. I'm tempted to get another one in white. Thanks OP

They even have the matching ladies version in white, just not GMT, but you can get the pair for under £1000 😳

Is the flash setting some tech that'll age like Bluetooth?
    mjj4's avatar
    Author
I still use Bluetooth daily for many things so not entirely sure what you're suggesting. However, you can set the watch manually and don't need to use the flash setting, its just supposed to save time and hassle, and obviously be spot on for accuracy.

Not paying that for a Quartz. No matter what logo is on the face. 43mm is a cumbersome size too, unless you're Andre the Giant.

That's a very Naive comment to make. This is one of the most accurate quartz movements ever made. Accurate within 5 seconds a year, has a perpetual calendar for over 100 years, has it's own energy saving mode, along with the bits that russmw has mentioned. This trumps quartz Grand Seiko's for accuracy. 43mm isn't that big either, but that's personal preference. Many people have wrists that can comfortably accommodate a 43mm watch. Lug to lug is just as important as the case diameter too, but it appears you aren't into watches so maybe hadn't considered this?

Further to my last post regarding the VHP GMT I have had a change of heart as the price is excellent and worth a punt. The one I had back in February was faulty but the £760 I paid was refunded immediately.

So with my beloved's permission one was ordered yesterday and delivered today.

It really is a gorgeous watch and a steal at £560.

(Yes I know its Quartz, I couldn't care less!).

Looks great! They attempted to deliver mine on Friday but I was out, so it's coming tomorrow!

Now that you've got a working VHP, you can sell me your way less accurate Tudor
  9. pat123's avatar
LOL! No it's not going anywhere! It too is a really lovely watch.

Bummer you were out but something to look forward to tomorrow!

The Long Haired General, my beloved, was so impressed with the VHP that she ordered herself the 36mm VHP (non-GMT) Ladies. That too is seriously good value. Watches eh?

It all started 32 years ago with this beauty and if the VHP lasts that long it will be on one of my sons wrists!50452713-pmXmL.jpgEnjoy your lovely watch!

Sadly, too big for my noodle wrists

I have a casio oceanus which I brought a few years ago. Is this worth an upgrade?
    50434476-Qas7n.jpg
    wirdy1's avatar
Keep the oceanus & wear in rotation. I really like them, proportions are perfect & it's a quartz so will always be ready to pick up & go.

Great deal, I haven't seen any 2nd hand sold under £550 a couple years ago. Wouldn't buy this watch myself though, 43mm with 3 (4) hands, not a chrono, feels like wearing an empty plate. Price is HOT.
    stec77's avatar
You say you’ve been aware of the secondhand prices over the last couple of years! Is that to say that this new price of £560 is as good as it gets price wise! Would anyone else also confirm that to be true?! Thanks in advance!

    Great watch for the money

Great price & Worth every penny!!

I have the VHP chrono (not GMT so no dual time zone) but the feel of the watch is great along with the +\-5 seconds a year accuracy and abillity to drop it into power save mode just extends the battery life. I understand GMT works basically by the phone app setting the time zone by flashing morse code to the sensor and not using bluetooth. (edited)

I actually don't mind the watch being quartz, but the fact it's quartz and only 50m water resistant has been the thing putting me off. On a mechanical it's enough harder to water proof I don't mind, but you can do 100m without a screw down crown even on mechanical watches so 50m seems insufficient.

Longines confirm you can swim with this watch

That’s a lovely looking watch but I bought a Sonos Arc this month otherwise I would have had it.

Great price, have the non GMT version when it launched 5 years ago. This GMT consider steal price comparing i paid the same 5 years ago for the non GMT version.

41mm £700 how does that work

BLC. Holders might get 20% (edited)

I know right. The 41mm is not a GMT, but regardless it's not discounted anywhere near enough. I'd actually prefer the 41mm as most of my watches are big and heavy so no good for daily duties (well on my weak wrists anyway)

Anyone thoughts on micro brands appreciated. How would this compare to some of the reputable microbrands but I don't know much about them. I fancy getting something few folk have but at the same time I don't like throwing my money away on Kickstarter projects which turn out to be rubbish value. Cheers
    pat123's avatar
Longines are a very well respected and established watch manufacturer. Kickstarter projects are buyer beware projects which if you can afford to lose money are worth a punt. If it works.... great, if it doesn't then your legal rights vary from non-existant to difficult depending on where the project is based.

The vast majority of watch KickStarter projects are Far East based. I wouldn't subscribe to them.

If you want a watch that is spectacular value at the moment and from an established Swiss manufacturer have a look at the Alpina Startimer Heritage with the Blue face. It is on Ernest Jones website at £695 reduced from £1195 elsewhere.

It is a beautiful watch and I bought one last week using both TopCashBack and the Blue Light Discount which takes a fair chunk off.

At the risk of being called a flash git, here it is alongside my Tudor GMT which my beloved allowed me to buy when the faulty Longines VHP GMT went back for a refund.

The red reflection on the Alpina is my little red Olympus Tough. (edited)
