    Hi
A quick question to any watch collectors - I have 1baume and 1 baume and mercier watch from my late dad - neither have been serviced for ages -they are old models and no jewellers will touch them to service and get working right -any suggestions

Not really familiar with vintage luxury watches, but you'll often find that it's quite difficult to have vintage watches repaired or serviced as there is a lack of parts. There are definitely people who do it, but I'm not sure how easy it will be. It may be worth contacting Baume and Mercier directly with a service query, and they may even be able to give you information about the watch's history. Not always easy to have vintage models serviced.. I have a Seiko from the 70s which they can't even source the parts for

Apparently, the Baumatic Movement is good for 120h. Take that Powermatic 80!

This in-house movement should be recognised for this innovation alone, IMO.

That movement is brilliant. B&M definitely an underrated brand IMHO

    A real depreciator

Like the majority of watches then.
However, that wouldn’t matter to those collectors that buy watches because they like them. Perhaps you can tell us the name of any watch at this price that would appreciate?

Beautiful. Not a fan of the cross hair thingies though. Funny how you don't see Baume & Mercier often, but I think they make some of the nicest dress watches on the market. (edited)

The crosshairs are part of the sector dial design choice, very retro from 1950s.

An excellent example I own, by Longines: wornandwound.com/rev…or/ (edited)

120hr power reserve, 28,800 bph, -4/+6 seconds/day. What is going on, that sounds like one of the best movements on the market.

Looks like a great movement, quite amazing being 4Hz with that massive power reserve.

5 photos and only 1 of them is of the watch, that's genius!

Very classy watch though for the discerning gent

That's pretty good. They're a cut above Oris and the like.

Ideal for short business trips when you travel light and can’t carry a watch winder. Heat++

It comes with 2 boxes :/
    Mrcrazyman69's avatar
Most luxury watches do include an AD box as well as the original. I've never liked the idea of a second box either lol

Wish I’d waited now and got this version instead of the non chronometer version earlier this year.

and you get 8 years of warranty when you register online now which wasn’t available when I bought mine at the start of the year. You got a shorter extension and you had to phone them to find out you had to email and ask for the extension.

About the only good thing was the version I bought had the twinspir balance spring which they had to stop using because of some patent problems. (edited)
