I’d avoid these. The MDF will go mouldy without treating or painting it. The spores will contaminate other wood in your shed. Not worth the risk.

Painted mine and still going strong after 5 years...

Would this be stable enough for say a 3D printer?

Depends as they do sag, it's cheap ass 6mm MDF not designed or ever recommended for anything of weight even with the middle support that isn't really a support . Also depends where being used as this MDF is literally some of the worst ever seen, even in humidity of 50- 60% it's warped and went bad. I replaced most of ours with 9mm ply. Jewson cut them all to size for free.

If you want a bigger size, there is the 180cm x 120cm x 60cm in Grey for £35 with the 50% off voucher:

These images are certainly misleading, the first 2 pics definitely not 180x90. More like 180x150.

Heat! Bought 3 different shelves for 50% off!

Funny that the wood is MDF and the first picture shows a bag of cement being put on one of the shelves. In my day, bags of cement were 50 kg only! 😜
    CynicalNurse's avatar
It's a 25kg bag and AFAIK has always been supplied in that size. You wouldn't be able to lift a 50kg bag of cement unless you were a Gladiator.

Can anyone please tell,/teach me step by step, how to do varnish and oil based paint on these shelves? What brand should I go for etc? Thanks in advance.
    wendy07's avatar
Painting: after lightly sanding use primer paint suitable for MDF, then paint with gloss or any other.

You could undercoat over the primer if you want.

For varnish: sand lightly and varnish. (edited)
