I’ve got one, great quality and easy to use, but the field of recording isn’t great, I think that it’s 120° which means that you miss cars coming from your right at roundabouts and junctions. I’ve had two near misses with people indicating that they were turning and then driving straight on! Neither were picked up on the dashcam

"Mis-indicating" is a new scam, so wait until the other car actually makes a turn before making your move. Also NEVER respond to anybody flashing you out from a side road. There's a reason why a police car won't respond if you flash it out of a side road. "Flash for cash" is well known by insurance companies. (edited)

How would this work on a bike just curious for the continued power??
    zackkr's avatar
I would have thought that an action camera would be more suited to a bike. Wind/rain would certainly mess this little thing up.

Is there any good dash cam battery operated?
    ben.williamsFMq's avatar
Why would you or anyone want a battery dashcam? It would always be flat at the time it's needed, plus it takes 5secs to plug it in🤷‍♂️ (edited)

I wonder if this would be good as a rear dash cam.

Absolutely….I bought two at the same time…hardwired in…..works seamlessly together in the app…..the app synchronises the two recordings together and combines with a front and rear footage if you want it displayed together.

Pretty sure this still suffers over heating problems if hardwired, still not fixed from the mini-1

I have mine hard-wired and do not have an issue

Those that have would you recommend? (as a discreet reasonably low res, well priced option).

Get the best you can afford as even one incident that confirms 3rd party blame will more than pay for it. I use Nextbase as they are approved by the police and have a web portal to upload footage easily. It's great snitching on bad drivers!

If this was for cyclists, grass/snitch.

For motorists, oh might get one.
    AverageBloke's avatar
A lot of cyclists have them fitted, I'd never ride without one now. We all want bad drivers off our roads, don't we?

Make sure you get a rear facing one also, as tailgaters are by far the biggest menace on our roads. I've had 9 drivers prosecuted so far this year. 7 in an Audi! (edited)

These are good and discrete but if you want to transfer via WiFi it's at a snails pace.

I did this once in the honeymoon period after I bought it but after a while you'll only do this if you need to provide evidence. Great just knowing it always works, better feature is the parking mode hardwired cable, wifi is not important, it is a great dashcam.

I've purchased two, very discreet, highly recommended.

Hasn't gone much down in price. It's like 2 years old now.

Owned this 18 months, also have it hard wired into fuse box with parking mode. Fit and forget, pure quality and no distracting screen, voice control too but I just drive not interfering with it.

It is brilliant, no issues, I wouldn't drive a car without one, even saves video if you brake really hard like a drunk idiot jumped out in front of me at 4am, it would have provided complete evidence of me not being liable.

    64GB card in mine

Excellent camera. Had in 2 cars for over a year. No issues until the 1st generation.
Hardwired was quite easy. Recommended! 🔥

Very tempting but risk of paying 90 qiud and having overheating one is not something I am willing to risk.
I did buy the other deal from hotukdeals with 70mai (front and back camera) for 74 quid

Got 3 of them in 1 different cars, never overheated or even a glitch. My only quibble is WiFi transfer speed, I'm lazy and don't want to take the micro SD out when I'm just looking at footage of being cut up and not crashed.
